FIRST TEAM
Malcolm Day Malcolm Day 6'5" | SF Old Mill | 2023 State MD | 6’6 | Takoma Academy ’23
Day came into the event with expectation thanks to his productive summer and his recent showing at the DMV Elite 80. He thrived in isolations at the top of the key where he uses an array of crossovers and stepbacks to get his shot off from three. In transition he brought energy to the gym and to his team with high-flying finishes. It was already known prior to today, but Day’s upside is evident.
Warren Gorman Warren Gorman 6'7" | PF Bishop Ireton | 2023 State VA | 6’7 | Bishop Ireton ’23
Gorman has drastically improved since the last time I saw him. The 6-foot-7 big was a dominant presence on the glass at both ends and many of his buckets around the rim came as a result of corralling misses. He did a good job of stepping outside as his guards penetrated where he’d catch, set his feet and let go three’s with confidence. Defensively he was valuable on the weak side where he rotated quickly for blocks at the rim. Gorman also held his own when forced to switch out on guard where he moved his feet laterally and kept the ball handler at bay.
Cy Hardy Cy Hardy 5'11" | PG Nortide | 2025 State VA | 5’11 | North Side ’25
By all accounts, Hardy was one of the more consistent performers at the expo from start to finish. No one could keep him in front due to his quickness. Hardy made shots at a high clip. He also controlled the tempo of the game. If he’s not already, he is well on his way to becoming a household name in Southwest Virginia.
Wyatt Norton Wyatt Norton 6'8" | C Bishop O'Connell | 2025 State VA | 6’8 | Madison ’25
Norton was on our radar prior to this event, but it was good to see him reinforce his credentials as a top prospect locally in 2025. One thing that we loved about him was his high work rate. Norton was all over the glass. He can also space the floor. Norton loves to get out and run. He had some explosive finishes in transition.
Kai Settles Kai Settles 6'7" | C Jackson Reed | 2024 State MD | 6’7 | Jackson-Reed
Settles caught our attention right away with his ability to haul in boards by the boatload. Whether the rebound was in his area or not, Settles pursued with aggression and had to have finished with double-digit numbers in the category for every game he played. What he also showcased is an improved skill set on the offensive end by knocking down mid-range shots with efficiency and occasionally stepping out beyond the arc and letting it go with confidence. His efforts on the glass were also rewarded on that end of the floor as he had his share of second-chance buckets throughout the day.
