There were plenty of big time matchups, college coaches in attendance and a great atmosphere for preseason basketball.
We take a look at part one of some of the top juniors that were in attendance for session one,

Ben Hammond Ben Hammond 5'10" | PG Paul VI | 2024 State #143 Nation VA | 5’9” PG | Paul VI
The PVI 2024 class is so talented they will get their own part of the standouts, as they have 5 guys who will be playing at the division one level in a couple of seasons, and perhaps the one who will have to step up the most this year is Hammond who is the successor of a lot of talented PVI point guards that include Anthony Harris Anthony Harris 6'3" | SF Princess Anne | 2024 State VA (UNC/Rhode Island), Jeremy Roach (Duke) and Dug McDaniel (Michigan), and the way he played Sunday he looks like he’s ready to do that. He set the tone early defensively and continued to be a pest throughout the event turning ball handlers and using his quick hands to pick pockets, he pushed the tempo when he needed to and showed great burst to get in the lane and despite his size he showed his ability to finish over much bigger defenders when he got downhill.
Darren Harris Darren Harris 6'6" | SF Paul VI | 2024 State #59 Nation VA | 6’6” WF | Paul VI
Harris is perhaps the best shooter in the 2024 class in not just Virginia, but has to be in the conversation for best shooter in the country, and he showed that on Sunday in their two wins over Peanut City and Blue Magic. At 6’6” Harris has prototypical size to play on the wing in college and couple that with deep range, a quick release off the catch and big time consistency from deep he is simply a player you have to keep eyes on or he will burn you from deep. In their win over Blue Magic, Harris was 6-for-6 from deep knocking down shots on kick-outs, in transition and with little to no space.
Isaiah Abraham Isaiah Abraham 6'7" | SG Paul VI | 2024 State #62 Nation VA | 6’6” WF | Paul VI
Of all the talented prospects PVI has, Abraham has arguably the biggest upside of any of them as the 6’6” wing was made to play basketball with his mix of size and athleticism at his position and he continues to polish his game and is just scratching the surface with how good he can be moving forward. When he’s in transition he’s absolutely dynamic with his above the rim finishing ability, he can get downhill and is getting better at creating space and knocking down shots off the bounce and he has the ability to be a lock down defender moving forward.
Pat Ngongba | 6’9” C | Paul VI
Ngongba is part of a very big front court that opponents will struggle with all season with the Panthers, and what he brings that’s different than the other bigs is that he is a technician in the paint and a guy you can throw it in to and let him go to work in one-on-one situations. He has great hands and feet in the paint and soft touch with either hand, he establishes position in the paint and is always there to clean up on the offensive glass and he showed he is improving his range and when he starts making shots on the perimeter consistently he’ll be another type of monster to try to guard.
Garrett Sundra Garrett Sundra 6'11" | C Paul VI | 2024 State #148 Nation VA | 6’8” PF | Paul VI
One of my personal favorite players to have watched develop over the past few years, Sundra has grown into his body and become a much more fluid athlete which is great to go with the already high motor and hustle style of play he brings every day. He’s always running the floor hard whether it’s on a defensive rebound to get out in transition where he can catch lobs and play above the rim or chase guys down defensively in transition, he can knock down shots from deep and in the midrange and he pursues the ball on rebounds and 50-50 balls to get his team extra opportunities.
