Malachi showed a lot of upside at the Expo. He is a crafty guard, that is a good decision maker. He has a high basketball IQ, and knows when to take it himself and when to get his teammates involved. He has a quick first step, and can score off one or 2 feet in the paint. He cuts hard to the basket when he plays away from the ball, creating good high percentage scoring chances. He is a hardworking skilled player. At the showcase he made some nice passes, created his own shot and had a few tough finishes at the rim.
rnAmare had a standout day at the Expo. He has all the Intangibles that will make any program better. He is a defensive minded player, who loves to play defense. He is very vocal, and was communicating well with his teammates at the expo, despite this being their first time playing together. Amare just has a strong passion for the sport of basketball, and getting better. He often dives on the floor for a ball, and forces turnovers on ball with his defensive intensity. He is coachable, has a high motor, and plays with toughness. He is a pass first point guard, who makes players around him better. Although he likes to pass the ball, at the showcase he showed he is a shooter that you have to step out on. He hit a number of three pointers throughout the day. He also scored at the rim and in transition. He utilized effective ball fakes and shot fakes to get the defense to jump. He also had one very nice bounce pass on a pick and roll in the paint between two defenders.
Highlights
Foster had a good showing at the expo. He is a fast crafty Guard, that can score in multiple ways. He had a number of tough finishes throughout the day, many over taller players. He has a variety of finishing moves at the rim, a soft floater, and creates good separation from the defense. He did a good job reading the screens, knowing when to attack off the screen, pass to the roll, and slip the screen. He also showed his outside shooting hitting a few treys. In transition he did a good job pushing the ball up the floor and also passing the ball up the floor.
Highlights
The wing was in attack mode right from the jump in the first game. He was making plays all day at the expo. He was a slasher from the wing, scoring on straight line drives off the dribble. He showed his good mix of an inside out game, and his soft shooting touch as well. He is a versatile defender than can guard multiple positions. Dominick proved to me why I think he has a strong upside.
Lenus has a strong upside. He is effective playing on or off the ball. Away from the ball he cuts hard and creates high percentage scoring opportunities. On the ball he has good handles, reads the defense well and can shoot, or get to the rim. He is very quick getting up the court in transitions. He can get up the court needing just a few dribbles. He made a tough shot at the buzzer to end the half in one of his games during the day.
