2024 Caden Diggs discusses his move to Bullis + recruitment
Last week I made the trip down to Bullis School to check in on head coach Bruce Kelley’s squad for the 2022-23 season. He’ll have plenty of quality depth to work with, but the biggest addition that was made over the offseason was 2024 wing Caden Diggs Caden Diggs 6'7" | SF Bullis | 2024 State #125 Nation MD . The 6-foot-7 junior made the move to Bullis after deciding to transfer from St. Alban’s and after a productive spring/summer with New World, Diggs has emerged as a top-10 prospect in a loaded 2024 MD/DC class.
“Throughout the summer I was really trying to improve on my physicality,” Diggs told Prep Hoops. “Just stuff like finishing at the rim. I think there are aspects of my defense that I can get way better at and that will be a focus of mine this season. My game overall has progressed a whole lot throughout the summer though. I felt like the DMV Live even helped get my name out there and show what I could do.”
Diggs seems to have added some muscle to his frame since the summer as well and looks to be in good shape. He’s known for his explosive athleticism that comes to light in transition, but what was evident by watching workouts was his improved confidence in getting to his spots in the mid-range during a half-court setting. Bullis has their fair share of skilled guards who can put the ball in the basket, but providing a legitimate scoring threat from the wing/forward spot is what will help take them to the next level.
“I just want to provide versatility at the defensive end,” Diggs said when speaking on his expected role this season. “Rebounding, scoring, and really just doing anything that we need. We have a lot of leaders on this team and they’ve helped me make the adjustments. I just want to bring wins and get my name out there more.”
Playing for St. Alban’s last season, Diggs is familiar with the skill level and style of play that the IAC brings.
“I think we should win the IAC for sure. I think we have so much talent over here. I think we’re shooting for those other private schools like in the WCAC and MAC. We just want to prove ourselves against the best.”
Diggs took advantage of the summer stage to help garner college offers and interest. We spoke on which programs are being most consistent with him. He visited George Mason unofficially over the weekend.
“I might take an official to Butler and Marquette, but I’m not sure yet. I took an official to Richmond, too. I love the program up there. Those four schools are really the schools who are on me hardest at this point.”
What is Diggs looking for in his college deicison?
“If I can have an impact as a freshman. My dream is to go pro. I’m trying to play at the highest level and make an impact. The coaches are telling me that they like my versatility and the chances of me being like a bigger guard. I can still improve my handle, of course, but those are the types of things they are telling me.”
Diggs comes in at the No. 7 slot in our updated 2024 MD/DC player rankings.
