PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Mac Wrecke Mac Wrecke 6'5" | SG Arrowhead | 2023 State #272 Nation WI
Averaging 21 points per game as a junior, Wrecke is the second-leading returning scorer in the league. The UW-Green Bay commit is one of the best athletes in the state. A leaper, slasher, and shot creator, when Wrecke gets into a zone, there’s not much a defender can do. Wrecke is one of the few prospects in the state that’s effective without needing a ton of dribbles or being flashy. He’s all about business on the floor. Just kicks your butt and heads back down to the other end of the floor.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Collin Madson Collin Madson 6'4" | PG Mukwonago | 2023 State WI
One of the fastest-rising prospects in the senior class, Madson has the all-around ability to stuff the stat sheet. With Mukwonago losing a lot of seniors from last season’s squad, they’ve handed the keys to the car to Madson, who runs the show at a very high level. The 6-foot-4 guard is an excellent decision maker, has takeover scoring ability, and can guard multiple positions. Averaging 14 points per game as a junior, look for Madson’s numbers to jump substantially as a senior.
SURPRISE PLAYER: Austin Villareal Austin Villareal 6'1" | SG Arrowhead | 2023 State WI
Arrowhead has a good squad with a big-time 1-2 punch, but it might not be Basich and Wrecke carrying them every night. If summer league is any indication, Villareal is perfectly capable of shouldering the scoring load if needed. He had good numbers as a junior, posting nearly 15 points per game, but Villareal can be one of the biggest x-factors in the state with his 3-point shooting, sneaky athletic ability in transition, and defensive prowess, specifically playing the passing lanes. An undersized guard, Villareal plays with a chip on his shoulder and those types of prospects can be very dangerous when overlooked.
