Finch was another steady contributor both as a driver and reactionary passer at 6’4. Finch is one of more notable glue guys from this weekend, although he showed playmaking flashes off the bounce. Given his physicality and proactive ballhandling, Finch is capable bullying his way into advantageous situations. The forward is more than capable creating pressure from the perimeter or the more old school bully ball style of play. Finch has also proven to defend bigger guards and most wings up to the arc and down to the low post.
Johnnie Reed Johnnie Reed 6'6" | SF Windsor | 2024 State CO – Windsor – 2024
Reed fits onto every team in the state given his multipositional defense and growing shot volume from distance. Think high impact even without the ball, Reed is one of the best communicators regardless of class. Standing no less than 6’5, the wing will play a huge role anchoring the glass for Windsor.
Aidan Peck Aidan Peck 6'7" | SG Rock Canyon | 2023 CO – Rock Canyon – 2023
Peck was another key name from last weekend while standing at roughly 6’6. The wing has been nothing short of dependable all summer as a complementary shooter and rangy defender. Peck appears to have streamlined the shot along with improving his shot volume from beyond the arc. On overaggressive closeouts, Peck is advantageous getting to the rim, where he is more than capable throwing it down above the rim. Given his bounce, I would like to see Peck truly emphasize his help side defensive aggression, as he could average right around two blocks a game in my eyes.
Caden Stevens Caden Stevens 6'8" | C Mountain Vista | 2023 CO – Mountain Vista – 2023
Rankings fifth in the 2023 class, Stevens was as steady a presence as anyone. Dominant in transition, the forward made waves above the rim as a shot blocker and dunker. While we already know about his interior dominance within Colorado, the next step will reside with his perimeter playmaking. Ballhandling in traffic, notably against contact will be an area he needs improvement. While consistent getting downhill with the right hand, Stevens showed slightly more volatility being run off the line with the left hand. Another area of intrigue will come from his playmaking at the top of the key, mid-post, and off short rolls, given how exceptional Mountain Vista’s ball movement has looked over the the past ten months.
Cass Henry Cass Henry 6'7" | PF Arapahoe | 2024 State CO – Arapahoe – 2024
Coming in as the fourth ranked 2024 player in Colorado, Henry showed significant improvements as a perimeter creator. The most notable aspect of Henry’s summer has been his quickness and weight, where he slimmed down from roughly 230 to 215 pounds. Although weighing less, Henry retained most of his tangible strength while being a fair bit quicker on his feet. Moving from more of a low post threat to a perimeter centric approach is not only a major development, but fits into where the game of basketball is moving. Henry is not just quicker, he has improved his jumper while generating just enough more space for shots off the bounce.
Dominic Perkins Dominic Perkins 6'7" | SF Mountain Vista | 2023 CO – Mountain Vista – 2023
At roughly 6’5, Perkins is an incredibly mobile shot blocker and short roll playmaker. The incoming senior was emphatic as a weakside defender, who was more than capable switching out on the perimeter when needed. Within the mid-range, Perkins was consistent hitting shots off the catch and even flashed post scoring upside through fadeaways.
