Vasean Allete | United Scholastics Academy/Canada Elite
Allete has proven himself on several stages this summer that he is an electrifying player and scorer. He did so once again at Will Barton Elite Camp as he scored buckets in bunches and in a variety of ways. Allete is at his best operating in iso situations where he uses his shifty quickness to get his defender off balance. He’s capable of step-back three’s, stopping on a dime in the mid-range or taking it to the cup and finishing creatively. Allete made plays in the open floor for others, crashed the glass at a good rate for a guard and brought energy defensively.
Carlton Carrington Carlton Carrington 6'4" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #84 Nation MD | St. Frances/Team Melo (Pitt commit)
I was impressed with Carrington’s poise as the primary ball handler for his squad throughout camp. Carrington is known for his shooting and scoring ability as an off-ball guard, but he showed initiative in a half-court setting of creating for his teammates and ensuring execution of quick-hitting sets in a camp setting. All while he took advantage of his good looks at the basket from deep, Carrington also kept his defender guessing by attacking their front foot on the closeout, getting to the rim and finishing.
Kyron Henderson Kyron Henderson 6'6" | PF Dallas Kimball | 2022 State TX | Rock Creek Christian
Henderson was a new face when I showed up to the gym. I quickly learned that he recently moved to the area from Texas and after watching him in action for about five minutes, it’s safe to say Division I programs will be after him in the next week or two. Henderson has good size at 6’7 to go with a strong frame. He’s athletic and punished the rim on numerous occasions throughout camp. He knocked down three’s off the catch with pretty sound form and defended multiple positions while establishing himself on the glass. Programs are always out to look for players of his skill and size, so it’s only a matter of time before offers come raining in.
Isaiah Coleman Isaiah Coleman 6'5" | SF Word of God | 2023 State #59 Nation NC | Word of God/Team Loaded
The 6’5 combo guard is a walking bucket no matter what uniform he puts on and he was just that over the weekend as well. Coleman can do it from anywhere on the floor and being a volume shot creator meant for plenty of looks to come his way in such a setting. When he wasn’t breaking his defender down and freeing himself for looks from deep, he was attacking the basket and finishing quickly before rotating defender could alter his lay-up
Jacoi Hutchinson Jacoi Hutchinson 6'3" | CG IMG | 2023 State #101 Nation FL | IMG Academy/Team Takeover
Hutchinson was the smoothest player in attendance in terms of getting to his spots and knocking down looks with fluidity and poise. The 6’2 guard was a major impact in Takeover’s run during Peach Jam, so I was looking forward to seeing him close up this weekend and it was confirmation that not only can he score it from all three levels with efficiency, but he’s going to impact winning at the next level.
Cornelius Robinson Cornelius Robinson 6'6" | SF Camden | 2023 State #253 Nation NJ | Camden/NJ Scholars
It seemed like anytime I looked up and Robinson had the ball, he was getting to his spots in the mid-range off 2-to-3 dribbles and rising over defenders to bury shots. He has a good frame at 6’6 and positional versatility that was displayed throughout the game portion of camp. He battling inside for rebounds, ran the lanes in transition for scores and relocated effectively as others penetrated to set himself up for clean looks.
Malik Bowman Malik Bowman 6'7" | PF Bishop Walsh | 2023 MD | Overtime Elite
It was good to see Bowman for the first time since he took part in the Overtime Elite experience. His body has improved drastically and with his size at 6’8, he’s becoming a real mismatch problem as he showcased this weekend. The lefty is usually operating in face-up scenarios on catches from 10-to-15 feet from the basket and can attack going right or left to get to the rim. He gets majority of his catches on the perimeter though, and wasn’t afraid of letting it go after throwing a few jabs his defender’s way. He shot the ball from three with accuracy and didn’t shy away from punching a few thunderous dunks whenever the lane cleared out for him.
Jahnathan Lamothe Jahnathan Lamothe 6'3" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #204 Nation MD | St. Frances/Team Durant (Maryland commit)
Lamothe had a solid showing with how he picked his opportunities in game situations. A lot of guys were banged up physically because of the toll their bodies endure with what seems like nonstop events even once AAU ends. Lamothe was included in this group of guys, but battled through where he made pinpoint bounce passes to streaking teammates in transition, cashed in on clean looks from three and used his frame to create space on drives from the baseline to then regather himself and knock down mid-rangers.
