Dakotas Uncommitted Seniors
Alex Dvorak Alex Dvorak 6'1" | PG Dickinson | 2023 State ND |6’1 PG| Dickinson/Pentagon Schoolers
He was All-State as a junior and put up big numbers with 24.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2 spg. Dvorak is no stranger to scoring in the 30’s and he can hit triples like they are going out of style. He is 6’1, but he can get up and SLAM as few can in the Dakotas. Dvorak is a human-highlight-reel when the ball is in his hands. Alex is likely the best player in ND at creating his own shot. His skills and bag of tricks are endless and he can score at will. In the open court, Dvorak is as electric as they come. Look for him to have a monster senior season and the Midgets to make a run for the State Tournament. Alex certainly has the skill and athletic ability to play at the D2, D3, and NAIA levels. It will be interesting to see how his recruitment goes during his senior season!
Conner Kraft Conner Kraft 6'5" | PF Shanley | 2023 State ND |6’8 PF| Shanley/Howard Pulley
He was All-EDC last season and will be one of the best BIGs in North Dakota this season. Kraft had a nice AAU season with Howard Pulley from MN and I expect him to be on the radar of many college programs. Kraft averaged 19.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 2 apg as a junior at Shanley. Conner is a very athletic player that can score at every level. He will be a sure-fire double-double player this winter. He plays fearless and will dunk on anyone on his way to the rim. Look for Kraft to be a dominant figure in Class A this season. I have not heard much recently about his recruitment but he is no doubt a next-level player. With his size and athleticism, Kraft looks like a D1 Summit League or D2 NSIC type talent. Conner is one of the most intriguing players in the Dakotas and everyone is interested to see what happens with his recruitment.
Damon Wilkinson Damon Wilkinson 6'10" | C De Smet | 2023 State SD |6’9 C| De Smet/Pentagon Schoolers
He is the best BIG in Class B South Dakota. Wilkinson was 2nd Team All-State last season and a State Champion with the Bulldogs. Damon is a dominant BIG man and a walking double-double. He demands a double team, if he gets single coverage around the hoop, it will result in a bucket. Wilkinson and De Smet will be looking to return to the State Tournament and a heavy load of the production will be on Damon’s shoulders. Look for many wins from the Bulldogs and Wilkinson once again this winter. He looks like a D1 football recruit, Damon has multiple offers to play on the gridiron in college. When it comes to basketball, Wilkinson has the talent and skill to play in the NSIC. Keep track of this all-star from De Smet, he is going to have a rockstar senior year in football and basketball.
Ethan Russell Ethan Russell 6'6" | SF Aberdeen Christian | 2023 State SD |6’6 SF| Aberdeen Christian/SD Attack
He was and 2nd All-State player last season in Class B South Dakota. Russell and Aberdeen Christian will be one of the top teams in South Dakota again this year. I will be surprised if they are not #1 in the SD preseason poll. Last year, Russell averaged 14.7 ppg, 9.1 rpg. Those numbers will certainly take a nice jump this winter. His length and athleticism are a scary combo. Russell scores from all over the court and his jump shot is next-level caliber. I watched him play at MSUM a couple of weekends ago and Ethan certainly has the talent to play at the D2 level. He is currently receiving heavy interest from NSIC schools and Russell just picked up an offer from Northern State today! If you are a fan of SD hoops, Ethan is a player to watch and Aberdeen Christian will be a top team in the State regardless of the Class. Get ready for a blockbuster season from Russell.
Jackson Edman Jackson Edman 6'7" | SF Pierre | 2023 State SD |6’7 F| Pierre/Sacred Hoops
Last season, Edman was the best shot blocker that I watched in the Dakotas. I watched him play in AAU and he is without a doubt a next-level basketball player. At the Who’s Next Combine this summer, Edman was one of the top players and there were many college coaches that witnessed it. Jackson will be one of the top players in AA this season in SD and he will have Pierre playing like one of the best in the State. He is a matchup nightmare and his numbers will be impressive. His body and strength are already ready for the next level and his skill continues to improve. Edman will be an All-State player this basketball season. Jackson currently has multiple college offers and I expect more to come. He has his pick of GPAC schools and I will not be surprised if NSIC schools are highly interested as well. Keep your eyes on this Gov, he is the real deal.
Kaden Year Kaden Year 6'2" | SF O'gorman | 2023 State SD |6’6 SF| Sioux Falls Jefferson/SD Attack
He was a 2nd Team All-State selection last season and Kaden averaged 16 ppg, 6 rpg, 3 apg. Year had a great AAU season with SD Attack and he proved that he is ready to play ball at the next level. His skill-set will easily translate to the college level. Year can play in & out and he can do all the little things. I watched him at Concordia and NDSU this summer and Kaden was hands-down one of the best players at both events. With his size, skill, and versatility, Kaden will be playing college hoops at the D2, D3, or NAIA level next year. Get ready for Year and the Cavs to be one of the elite teams in SD this coming season.
Oliver Vincent Oliver Vincent 6'1" | PG Sioux Valley | 2023 State SD |6’1 PG| Sioux Valley/Pentagon Schoolers
I have said this many times before, but I will say it again. Vincent is a winner and one of the most skilled players in the Midwest. He is an All-State player and he knows how to get the Cossacks to the State Tournament. Last season, Oli averaged 17.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 6.8 apg, 1.5 spg and he shot an insanely high percentage from deep. His playmaking ability and court vision are next level. In AAU this season, Vincent was a stat stuffer and he scored in the 30’s many times. Do not forget about his extra hustle and all the charges that this kid takes. Vincent has offers and interest from various collegiate levels. Oli is one of the most intriguing prospects in the Dakotas. Where will he land? Only time will tell and I am certain that he will have a sensational senior season at Sioux Valley.
Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND |5’11 CG| Fargo Davies/ECI
He is a combo guard that had a standout junior season for Davies. The Eagles were a top 5 team all season in Class A and Ray was one of the most electric players. He is a suffociating defender and it is likely that Brown is the top rebounder in the State from the guard position. His quickness and speed easily make Ray a next-level player. He had a standout summer with ECI and Brown proved that he can produce against college-level talent. He is also a standout football player that will have the option to play college ball if he so chooses. Get ready for a monster fall and winter from Ray in football and basketball. He will have plenty of options to play either sport at the next level.
Tate Grossman Tate Grossman 6'4" | SG Harvey/Wells County | 2023 State ND |6’4 CG| Harvery-Wells County/ND Phenom
He was one of the top players in Region 4 last season and Grossman will easily be one of the best Class B players in North Dakota this year. He played AAU ball with ND Phenom and they travel across the country competing against great competition. Grossman has proved that he is a next-level athlete, he can handle the ball against frenetic pressure, can shoot it consistently, and can finish against tough rim protectors. His size at 6’4″ makes him an intriguing prospect and his impressive athleticism puts him into the intriguing column. Tate currently has an offer from Jamestown and is receiving interest from other schools. Get to know Mr. Grossman, he is primed for a memorable senior season.
Zach Kraft Zach Kraft 6'2" | PG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND |6’2 PG| Grand Forks Red River/ECI
He was an All-EDC player last season and one of the best shooters in ND. Kraft averaged 16.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.4 apg and he was a sniper from beyond the arc. His shot is smooth/flawless and Kraft has earned the nickname “The Red River Rifle”. Zach has sprouted a couple of inches in the past year and he turned himself into a long playmaking guard. Kraft has been working hard in the weight room and has put on 10 pounds of muscle this summer. At the MSUM Elite camp a couple of weekends ago, Kraft looked like one of the best offensive players in the gym. This lights-out shooter currently has offers from Jamestown and Morningside. With his skills, length, and deadly shooting, I expect the interest level from colleges will increase once the season gets rolling. Kraft and the Roughriders will be playing “can’t miss” basketball this winter, so make sure you tune in.
