With so many great programs featuring talented prospects it is quite the daunting task to try and give everyone the coverage they deserve. Especially with teams spread out across different circuits it can be hard to find a natural way to efficiently break down everything. I’ve decided that the easiest way to do this, and provided the most individual coverage, will be to simply go team-by-team across the state. This exercise will run through the end of August so be patient as we work through all of the teams. With a rankings update coming at the beginning of the month we will have a lot of other content being pushed out as well.
In these program spotlights we will feature a top prospect, a top stock-riser, and an under-the-radar name. Then, I will simply empty out the notebook with some other thoughts and takeaways that have been compiled over the last few months as it pertains to that team. Let’s dive on in.
Top Prospect: Myles Colvin Myles Colvin 6'5" | SG Heritage Christian | 2023 State #51 Nation IN (Heritage Christian 2023/INB Elite 2023)
Not only is Colvin clearly the best prospect in the INB Elite program, but he is also one of the best in the state period. The 6’5″ shooting guard is committed to Purdue and is ranked as a Top 100 prospect nationally by several different services. Colvin is not only an elite athlete but also one of the state’s better three-pointer shooters and can attack closeouts with the best of them as well. His ability to get up and play above the rim at the end of his drives is fun to watch. Should be among the top candidates for Mr. Basketball this season.
Top Stock-Riser: Reis Butcher Reis Butcher 6'4" | SF Brebeuf Jesuit | 2024 State IN (Brebeuf Jesuit 2024/INB Elite 2024)
Butcher really broke out early in the spring as a name that demanded attention. The 6’4″ wing is very long and has elite athleticism. When attacking the basket he can play well above the rim which resulted in some of the best highlight-worthy dunks I saw throughout the AAU season. Butcher is more of a driver at this point on the perimeter, but that explosiveness makes him really hard to stop when he gets downhill to the rim. Has the physical tools to be a disruptive defender in the passing lanes. There is a lot of upside to him as a prospect.
Under-the-Radar Name: Folabomi Fayemi Folabomi Fayemi 6'4" | PF Culver Academy | 2023 State IN (Culver Academy 2023/INB Elite 2023)
The physical tools that Fayemi brings to the table really stand out. He is 6’4″ with excellent strength, length, and athleticism. Fayemi can guard multiple positions on the floor and is a very good shot blocker for a wing. Offensively, he brings straight line driving ability, can attack closeouts, and is a constant threat running the floor in transition. Right now he has garnered a lot of small college interest from schools that love his versatility and the tools he brings especially on the defensive end of the floor.
Other Program Notes
- INB Platinum Elite 2024 had a solid summer on the Prep Hoops Circuit. 6’5″ forward Nick Glover (Warren Central H.S. 2024) is a double-double machine who is very strong, rebounds his area well, and finishes at a high percentage on the block. Glover’s high school teammate, 6’1″ guard Damien Keys Damien Keys 6'1" | PG Warren Central | 2024 IN (Warren Central H.S. 2024) is an elite athlete with great length that can play above the rim but also showcased a much improved shot from beyond the arc throughout the summer. Coryell Spates Jr. (Pike H.S. 2024) also deserves recognition for his spring and summer. He is a tough playmaking point guard who really showed his ability to score the basketball at the Grit Region Finals. Phillip Randolph (International School 2024) is another talented guard for this group that showed his versatility in the backcourt both as a scorer from multiple levels and as a table-setter for his teammates.
- 6’6″ forward Divine Adeyanju (West Lafayette H.S. 2023) really caught some attention at the end of the summer for INB Elite 2023. He is extremely physical around the basket, plays with an excellent motor, and can rebound outside of his area. Recently picked up a Franklin offer. Adeyanju is definitely a post prospect for schools at that level to strongly consider.
- You can see the potential in 6’3″ forward Chris Terry Chris Terry 6'3" | SF Lawrence North | 2025 IN (Lawrence North H.S. 2025) who plays with INB Elite 2025. Terry is very long, vertically athletic, and active around the basket. During the month of July 13.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game for INB Elite. Really like his upside as he continues to grow. 6’4″ forward Justin Parks (Ben Davis H.S. 2025) is another to keep an eye on with that group.
- For INB Platinum Elite 2023 a pair of prospects that had good summers were Jasmin Suvalija (Indiana Math & Science 2023) and Keilyn Moore (Avon H.S. 2023). Suvalija is a 6’1″ playmaking guard that can create for himself in the mid-range off the bounce. Moore is a super athletic, long 6’1″ guard who can shoot it from beyond the arc.
- In the backcourt for INB Elite 2023 I thought both 5’10” point guard Dylan Doss Dylan Doss 5'10" | PG Heritage Christian | 2023 State IN (Heritage Christian 2023) and 5’11” guard Tyler Kerkhof Tyler Kerkhof 6'1" | PG Greenfield-Central | 2023 State IN (Greenfield-Central H.S. 2023) showed off some improvements to their respective games this summer. Doss is a good playmaker off of the bounce and a very good on-ball defender as well. Kerkhof is at his best shooting from beyond the arc, but also has the ability to play the point guard role as a distributor.
