They set up an incredible atmosphere for some of the top prospects in Texas to showcase their talents. Do not forget to check out my YouTube video on all of the madness as well!
Kameron is a high level combo guard with an ability to catch fire and score from all four levels of the court. I was blown away with how easily he scored off the bounce, and how confident he was to take any shot on the court. He pulled up from the coveted fourth level of the court, and easily shot over 50% in the game that I watched. I saw him hit 3 three pointers from at least three steps beyond the arc, with a defender not only in his face but fouling him and sending him into the bleachers on two of the shots. He had the gym in awe with how well he was able to score off the bounce. He is a real sniper when he gets a chance to set his feet and square up in the corner and on the wings. He has all of the necessary tools to be a knock down shooter at the next level, and can do so in whatever way you might need.
He sees the floor at a high level, allowing him to play the combo guard spot whenever necessary. He cuts backdoor and attacks the rim with and without a live dribble. You can tell he has played with real point guard with how willing he is to move without the basketball. This allows him to see the floor at a high level, being tasked with doing everything on the court and knowing where his teammates will be at any point in time.
He is an ideal defender at the guard spot as well, who plays with intensity and wants to clamp up on that end of the court. He is a willing defender who wants to make you work for every inch of space. His ability to knock down shots and defend will make him a coveted asset at the next level. He has a perfect frame to affect the game on both ends of the court as well. Burton is a player who needs to be on your radar college coaches, make sure you get out to see him whenever you can…
Orlando is a crafty point guard who thrives off of creating space with his handle and sudden changes of speeds. He has impeccable footwork, with the ball he is great at using high level crossovers and step backs to shift his opponents every time he stepped on the court. There were multiple instances in which he put high level recruits on absolute skates in a half court set. I loved watching him use his agility to get around his opponents with ease. He is a a skilled finisher for his size, and he is great at using high shot angles and soft touches to finish over any opponent. He is a threat to score across all three levels, and the ease in which he gets into the paint allows him to threaten to drop an opponent on any inch of the court.
In the open court, he was incredible at changing speed and making the right pass at the right time to set up his teammates for effortless finishes. His ability to manipulate the defense was impeccable, and the ease in which he gets around the first defender allows him to read the defense with some real space. He whipped high level cross court passes to set up his teammates, and also through pin point lob passes to set up thunderous dunks. Horton Jr is the ideal point guard, and his shiftiness is definitely ready for the next level. I am intrigued to see how his offers begin to stack up this season…
Smurf Millender 2023 5’10 Clear Brook High School
Smurf is an explosive old school point guard who thrives on setting up his teammates, but also bringing intensity and energy to the court with his infectious play style. I was very impressed by how well he manipulated the defense and changed speeds to get around his opponents in the open court, and made slick no look passes to set up his teammates on the court. He is always looking to push the tempo and attack lazy transition defense. He plays with incredible energy, but he seems to be even faster with the ball in his hands.
Millender can confidently score across all three levels of the court, and has a nasty step back he loves to get to with consistency. His ability to score off the bounce was incredible, shifting his opponent and then calmly rising up in their face. He is a complete point guard prospect who not only has the vision and creativity to create space and opportunities for his teammates, but also plays with enough confidence and swagger to score the ball himself.
Ethan Wyatt 2023 6’4 Klein Collins High School
Ethan is an athletic monster, not surprising to anyone a dual sport athlete who is already boasting division one offers in football. Wyatt has explosiveness that is off the charts with the ability to hammer home monstrous dunks on the fast break, as well as rising up and finishing over the top of anyone. He has some incredibly impressive tomahawk dunks in his arsenal, many of which sucked the air out of the gym when he finished it. He has the ability to play on both ends of the court, using his active hands to poke the ball free and his basketball IQ to play in the passing lanes. He is not just a slasher however, he calmly knocks down shots off the bounce from 3 point range, and is more than comfortable at taking the pull up 15 footer. I was very impressed with the ease in which the game seemed to come to him, paired with his explosiveness and athleticism, some coach is going to be very lucky to have this young man at the next level, no matter which sport he picks!
Kaden Judie 2023 6’4 Alpha Omega Academy
Kaden is a high level wing with the ability to play the small ball forward role with his consistency in the paint on both ends of the floor. He showed an ability to routinely finish out of the pick and roll and on the fast break. He had a play where he caught a tight bounce pass and threw down a monstrous dunk that got everyone in the gym excited! His athleticism was on full display, but not only to finish dunks. He made timely leaps to reject shots at the rim and snatch rebounds. I was very impressed with his ability to do all of the little things on the defensive end, anchoring his team’s defense and snatching rebounds. He is a confident defender on the perimeter with his ability to move his feet but also use his active hands to poke the ball free. He made blocks and steals just as his opponent was about to make a move, perfectly timing up his hands. He made great decisions when he had the ball in his hands in the open court and showed an ability to go coast to coast and finish on the fast break. He moved without the ball and dove to the basket and sealed off his opponents for easy looks down low.
Payton Jones Payton Jones 5'10" | CG Silsbee | 2027 State TX 2024 6’0 Home School (Formerly PSAT Academy)
Payton is a complete point guard prospect with an ability to create space with his handle, create opportunities for his teammates, attack the rim or score from beyond the arc. Jones seems to be getting better and better every time I get to see him in action. His energy and effectiveness with a live dribble really stood out and it fuels his team to success. His aggressiveness with the basketball bled through into every aspect of his game, flying around the court after loose balls and long rebounds. He is a good and willing rebounder for his size and position and even got a few easy looks by following his own shot. He is a deadly scorer when he decides to pull up and can do so from beyond the arc or in the mid-range. I was very impressed by the ease in which he scored off the bounce. His ability to attack the rim opened up every other aspect of his game. Jones is one you need to keep your eye on!
