Small School Players to Watch: 1A and 2A Guards

Martinez has been impressing Prep Hoops scouts for a few years. He's a blur with the ball and a pest on defense. He's quick and shifty, able to blow by defenders and to create his own shot in the half court set. He's a lefty who finishes in traffic and gets a ton of buckets in transition. Mericle has played a ton over the years for CHIEF and he's finally a senior. He averaged 18 points and 6 boards as a junior. They lose a couple of all-state guards, so the door is open to up-and-comers like Moore. This guy impressed this summer with his scrappiness and intensity on defense. He harasses opposing guards every step of the way. On offense, he's got a nice handle and plays with speed and aggressiveness. II title last year. Sherer is a team leader who really locks down on defense. He's quick and pesky and smart.
