NBA Stylistic Comparison: 2021 Grizzlies Tyus Jones
Maxwell showed active hands defensively during the event. He will be able to defend two positions soundly. Good shoulders and upper body strength.
The insertion of Blake into a free-wheeling up-and-down game really helped solidify the point guard position. Blake spotted his teammate in the forecourt on a fastbreak and delivered a perfect 30′ pass up the sideline. The pass resulted in a sprinting fastbreak layup. Beyond the open-floor passing awareness, Blake dribbled fast without turning the basketball over on multiple occasions.
Questions that still need to be answered about Blake’s game: Can he make a three-pointer consistently? Is he capable of consistently finishing with the left-hand?
Blake did not rebound aggressively during the PrepHoopsTN Summer Combine.
Maxwell Blake Maxwell Blake 5'11" | PG Rockvale | 2024 TN showed off a really impressive wingspan relative to his height, a difference of +2.5″. He played decent on-ball defense and wonderful off-ball defense, denying the passing lane while maintaining sound defensive positioning.

NBA Stylistic Comparison: 2021 Nets Bruce Brown
Marshall’s hands (8.5″ x “8.0”) measured larger than average, big by guard standards for sure.
Very, very strong physically. As he enters his senior season, Marshall Ashley Marshall Ashley 6'1" | PG Oakland | 2023 State TN uses his shoulder perfectly, fending off reachers.
He rebounds better than average from the guard position. Ashley can dribble good though not great and shoot good though not elite. He is exceptionally quick with a wonderful basketball mind. Ashley posted two of the best lane agility times all day (11.37, 11.15), a drill that measures quickness and burst rather accurately. Decent sprint speed (3.7 3/4-court sprint), though he stands to improve his straightline push.
Ashley will not lose the ball with a silly pass or over-extend himself with a risky dribble. Solid guard with impressive strength and toughness, the kind of player that inspires teammates.
