Below is a review of five“New Names” from southeastern PA (and beyond) who impressed us during the final stretch of July 2022 grassroots action.
Christian Durham – 6’5″ / Junior / Archbishop Ryan / Team Final Red / Wing: Durham is a newcomer to the Pennsylvania basketball scene (more on that in our next “Transfer Watch” post) who quickly made a name for himself in July with his ability to score at al three levels. Durham uses his high percentage 3-point shooting to set up his dribble drive game. Once he penetrates the paint, Durham can absorb contact and score the rock at the rim with either hand. Or he can slam on the breaks via a jump stop and knock home a short jumper. Durham is a solid on ball defender as well.
Jordan Ellerbee Jordan Ellerbee 6'2" | CG St. Joseph’s Prep | 2025 State PA – 6’2″ / Sophomore / St. Joseph’s Prep / Philly Pride National / Wing: If you watched SJP closely during the Philly HS Live sessions one may have noticed Ellerbee’s potential. But from the middle of July until the end of the summer circuit, Ellerbee took his game to another level, and he became hard to miss. Ellerbee’s athleticism and length as well as his versatile skill set enable him produce points from multiple positions. His elusive handles get Ellerbee to the rim where he can finish over defenders. Additionally, Ellerbee’s jumper is an effective weapon from numerous spots on the floor. On defense, Ellerbee can guard 1 through 4.
Connor Fleet – 6’1″ / Junior / WC Henderson / East Coast Power-Richards / Combo Guard: Fleet became a household name during July because of his ability to shoot triples at a high clip and get to the rim off the dribble. In July he posted numerous big scoring games including 25 points vs. PTT-HGSL and 30 (8-11 on threes) against Eastern PA Elite. Fleet’s court vision, unselfish mid set and tremendous basketball instincts make him a solid distributor too. His intangibles list – hardnosed, non-stop motor, high IQ, and willing defender – should impress college coaches.
Matt Lange – 6’1” / Junior / Shipley School / K-Low Elite / Point Guard: Plain and simple Lange is playmaker who makes positive contributions at both ends of the floor. On offense he is an attacking style floor general who plays with pace, so he gets into the lane for lay-ins and floaters. If his path to the hoop is cut off, he will not hesitate to execute a drive and kick play. The elite footwork Lange owns allows him to Euro-step around defenders in traffic. At the other end of the floor, Lange is tenacious defender who guards for 94 feet.
Bobby Rosenberger Bobby Rosenberger 6'5" | SF Perkiomen School | 2023 State PA – 6’5″ / Senior / Perkiomen School / We R1 / Wing: Rosenberger (pic above) is a left-handed wing who can catch the ball in the mid-range, use the dribble drive to get into the lane and then finish at the cup with either hand. This extremely athletic prospect’s ability to elevate off two feet and dunk on opponents will catch coaches by surprise. Rosenberger also possesses deep three-point range on his jumper. On the perimeter his height and vertical allow him to shoot over defenders, making him exceedingly difficult to guard. Rosenberger’s high basketball IQ and court vision make him a solid passing big. At UAA Finals (IL) Rosenberger posted two 14-point games, including one against West Coast Elite-NorCal where he drained 4 of 7 three-point attempts. Last month Rosenberger picked up an offer from St. Francis University (DI in PA).
