Tate Petersen Tate Petersen 6'1" | PG Monticello | 2023 State IA — Iowa Mavs — 17U
Petersen is a high-level scorer who can get buckets against anybody. The Iowa Mavs star is just so dangerous as a scorer. This summer, he was able to score at a high clip while still being very efficient. From what I have seen, Petersen is a coaches’ dream. The PG is always making the right play. He never forces too much — he always takes whatever the defense gives him. Petersen was one of my favorite players to watch this AAU season, regardless of position.
Jordan Malmlov — Minnesota Select — 17U
Malmlov is an elite shooter who makes a defense pay when left open. The Minnesota Select star is a specialist. Any college programs looking for a high-level shooter should look no further than Malmlov. The point guard is also a solid ball handler and passer. He can run his team’s offense well, as he is great at passing to open teammates.
Blaise Porter Blaise Porter 6'1" | PG New London | 2023 State #298 Nation IA — Iowa Barnstormers — 17U
Porter is a prospect that is oozing with potential. Playing for a top tier program in the Iowa Barnstormers, Porter was able to show off a very high-level skillset. The point guard is a very good ball handler and passer who does a good job of running his team’s offense. If Porter keeps improving on both ends of the court, he is going to be a great player at the next level.
Max Woods Max Woods 5'11" | PG Chanhassen | 2024 State MN — Minnesota Fury — 16U
Leading Minnesota Fury to a championship in July, Woods was outstanding. The point guard is an extremely versatile prospect who can do a little bit of everything. As a scorer, Woods is dynamic and skilled. He uses his combination of athleticism and skill to score from all three levels. Time and time again, Woods proved to be a big-time player in big-time moments.
Colby Dolphin Colby Dolphin 5'10" | PG Kennedy | 2023 State IA — Iowa Prep — 17U
Dolphin is a tough, smart point guard who made a really strong impression on scouts this AAU season. Dolphin is a strong two-way prospect who makes some impressive plays on both ends. He is super tough and will never be outworked. The point guard does an awesome job of getting downhill and scoring in the paint.
Drew Balentine Drew Balentine 6'1" | PG Maranatha Christian Academy | 2024 State MN — Minnesota Chill — 16U
Balentine is an underrated point guard who spectators need to keep an eye on. I love the skillset that Balentine brings to the table on the offensive end of the court. He is a true three level scorer who can put a lot of pressure on opposing defenders. He is a very good mid-range shooter and deadly as a slasher. Balentine is very fun to watch with the ball in his hands.
Griffin Gerdes Griffin Gerdes 6'1" | PG Kennedy | 2024 State IA — Iowa Prep — 16U
Gerdes is a prospect that was very fun to watch this past spring and summer. I love how much confidence the point guard plays with. He does an awesome job of creating shots for himself and for his teammates. He can drain outside shots with ease and also showed an impressive ability to get downhill and finish difficult layups at the rim. Moving forward, I look forward to watching Gerdes evolve as a point guard.
