The 6-0 guard was a strong all-around player for the Bulldogs as a junior, averaging 13.0 points and 4.6 assists to go with his thieving on the defensive end. His 97 steals are tops among returnees regardless of class.
2.) 2023 Max Hough Max Hough 5'11" | PG GTRA | 2023 State IA (GTRA) – 91
A quick guard who uses his speed to his advantage on both ends of the floor, Hough also found himself on the top-10 assists list.
3.) 2023 Sage Evans Sage Evans 6'2" | PF West Harrison | 2023 State IA (West Harrison) – 89
Evans has found himself on the rebounding, assists, and steals lists, a testament to his ability to impact the game across the board. A 6-2 power forward with excellent hands, he flies all over the floor on the defensive end, which has certainly contributed to his penchant for accumulating steals.
4.) 2023 William Kiburis William Kiburis 6'4" | PG Gladbrook-Reinbeck | 2023 State IA (Gladbrook-Reinbeck) – 87
Another really talented all-around player, Kiburis stuffs the stat sheet on a nightly basis and is one of the top defensive players in 1A with his combination of length, athleticism, and IQ.
5.) 2023 Tate Haughenbury Tate Haughenbury 6'5" | PF North Linn | 2023 State IA (North Linn) – 83
A long and athletic forward who uses his length effectively on the defensive end, Haughenbury is oftentimes the beneficiary of opposing guards throwing up wild passes against the Lynx’s constant pressure. He then uses his length and athleticism to pluck passes out of the air and turn them into points on the other end.
6.) 2023 Lane Harmon Lane Harmon 6'1" | SF North Mahaska | 2023 State IA (North Mahaska) – 82
Like Haughenbury, Harmon is oftentimes the beneficiary of his team’s constant application of pressure. He has great instincts and a knack for jumping passing lanes. He’s also a really talented shooter who found himself on the top-10 returning 3-point shooters list.
7.) 2023 Carson Fuegen Carson Fuegen 5'9" | PG Easton Valley | 2023 State IA (Easton Valley) – 75
A small but lightning-quick point guard, Fuegen uses his quickness to his advantage on both ends of the floor, getting to the rim offensively and flying all over the floor on defense. He has extremely quick hands and a penchant for picking opposing ball-handlers clean.
8.) 2023 Evan Kearney (Iowa Valley) – 75
Kearney was part of a Tigers defense that saw three players averaging over three steals a game. He’ll be asked to take on a bigger scoring role as a senior following the graduations of Brody Ward and Peyton Loffer, who combined to average 35 points a game.
9.) 2023 Ayden Salais (Riverside) – 74
Salais is a defensive specialist who swiped over 3 steals a night for the Bulldogs as a junior. He moves his feet well and has excellent hands.
10.) 2023 Boston Devault Boston Devault 5'10" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2023 State IA (Nodaway Valley) – 73
Also a big-time scorer, Devault averaged 16 points a game last season, partially aided by his ability to turn defense into quick and easy offense.
