Last year saw the rise of senior standout David Tiner a little known player who went on to have an All-League season. This year’s class features several players with the skills to have a similar type of Senior Campaign. In this article, we take a look at some seniors poised for a breakout season.
Brayden Jones Brayden Jones 6'2" | SG Boulder City | 2023 State NV 6’2 SG Boulder City (#86) – This is a program play, as BC is known for developing players during their time in the system. I fully expect Jones to be one of those that has developed. When you combine this with the fact that he saw minutes on a team that reached the 3A title game and I look for Jones to be a potential breakout candidate.
Micah Foreman Micah Foreman 6'4" | PF Slam | 2023 State NV 6’4 PF SLAM (#80) – I really like players that have a signature skill, and Foreman brings that with his rebounding. He was one of the better glue guy, defensive specialist type last season. Even a slight increase in the production of that role will provide him with an opportunity for a breakout year.
Levi Sweeney Levi Sweeney 6'0" | CG Centennial | 2023 State NV 6’1 PG Shadow Ridge – I’m playing a hunch with Sweeney. I watched him during the Summer and was impressed with his mentality, positional size, and skill set. He’s a natural scorer and I believe that skill alone will carry him. The opportunity to receive more minutes will also be a huge factor in his breakout chances.
Jett Caudle Jett Caudle 5'9" | PG Fernley | 2023 State NV 5’9 PG Fernley (#44) – Caudle had a huge season last year, he could be ready for a monster one this year. The PG has some wiggle and has proven to be a dynamic scorer evident by his over 13ppg average as a junior. If he limits his turnovers and increases his assist from a season that saw him average over 4 per game, watch out!
Andre White Andre White 5'10" | CG Mineral County | 2023 State NV 5’10 CG Mineral County (#69) – White helped MC reach the state tournament last season, and could be poised to do more. The lefty is a do every type of guard, including scoring and making plays for teammates. After a strong junior campaign, look for him to challenge for several all-League honors.
Keenan Bey Keenan Bey 6'6" | SF Bishop Gorman | 2023 State NV 6’6 SF Bishop Gorman (#5) – Bey is a terrific player. At times he’s held to ridiculously high standards, which may be downright unfair. When you look at all the facts, he’s a guy coming off a 6th man of the year campaign in his first season playing Varisty basketball for one of the top programs in the nation. He has the physical tools, positional size, and athletic ability to be a prototypical D1 wing. Add in the fact that he is one of the best defenders in the state and Bey is an easy breakout candidate.
Devin Mabry Devin Mabry 6'6" | PF Spring Valley | 2023 State NV 6’6 PF Spring Valley (#43) – Mabry will be counted on to provide inside scoring and rebounding for a Grizzly squad with championship aspirations. After coming off an undefeated League, and a run to the finals Mabry looks to be the missing piece to a Grizzlies title. The athletic big should spend quite a bit of time on the rim, and his ability to anchor the SV’s interior of their vaunted zone defense should be key to their title hopes and his breakout campaign.
