Below is the eighth installment in our Transfer Watch 2022 series. In this edition of the Transfer Watch, you will notice that prospects from all around the country are enrolling at schools in Pennsylvania for the 2022-23 academic year.
Jasper Hedin – 6’5″ / Post Grad / Mercersburg Academy / Minnesota Comets / Small Forward: During the 2021-22 season Hedin averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds per game for Winona HS in Minnesota. As a result of his standout play, Hedin was a 1st Team All-Area selection as well as the Winona Daily News Player of the Year. Mercersburg is adding a 1,000-point scorer with a versatile skill set that allows him to play multiple positions. Hedin possesses the handles and passing skills of a high-level point guard. He also drains threes and scores off the dribble like a shooting guard. Plus, this athletic and fast big fella owns a little Dirk Nowitzki style back-to-the-basket game. In short, Hedin is an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on for the rest of the summer and into the fall/winter.
Jinwoo Kim – 6’3″ / Post Grad / Mercersburg Academy / Team Mokan / Combo Guard: Kim is a quick and crazy athletic backcourt prospect who excels at using the bounce to get into the paint for a bucket. Once at the rim, he can finish in a variety of creative ways or simply power through contact. Kim also will not hesitate to dunk on an opponent’s head. Obviously, this former Blue Valley Southwest (KS) standout excels in transition where he can score with either hand. In the half court, Kim’s 40% career three-point shooting mark keeps defenders from sagging off. Finally, Kim displays many of the intangibles college coaches love – high motor, positive energy, willingness to defend, vocal leadership and a noticeable swagger.
Tyler Simpson – 6’1″ / Sophomore / Solebury School / Team Miller Elite / Point Guard: In June Simpson made he debut for Solebury School at the Mid-Atlantic Independent School Shootout, and he was extremely impressive. At that highly competitive event, Simpson averaged 24ppg. and 4apg. (unofficially). He is a quick and physical guard who can score the ball at all three levels. Simpson’s electric dribble-drive abilities set up his perimeter shooting. As soon as a defender backs off Simpson, his deep range and a quick release enable him to splash threes from anywhere on the floor. In 2021-22 Simpson played at Bridgewater-Raritan (NJ) where he posted 11.5 points per contest and knocked down 34 triples on the season. He recorded a s season high 28 points (6 threes) vs. South Plainfield (NJ).
Ryan Zan – 6’7″ / Senior / Perkiomen School / East Coast Cyclones / Power Forward: This former Rutgers Prep (NJ) standout (15 ppg. & 9.5 rpg.) recently transferred to Perkiomen School. Zan began making a name for himself here in Pennsylvania during the June high school live period and has continued his outstanding play during the first major grassroots event of July. Unofficially, Zan posted two 20 and 10 games at the AC Jam Fest. Officially, he scored an impressive 29 points vs. Team Richmond (VA). Zan is a force in the paint at both ends of the court. He scores in the paint with ease, especially on the second chance opportunities. Additionally, Zan can operate in the mid-range by knocking down jumpers or using a ball fake, then a couple of dribbles to score at the tin.
