Brayden Pankonen Brayden Pankonen 5'11" | PG Dell Rapids | 2023 State SD 5’11’’ Dell Rapids
Brayden can fill it up from anywhere on the court. Last season, Pankonen made 51 3-pointers in the regular season for the Quarriers. Brayden most likely was a state leader in 3-pointers off the dribble. There were many times while handling the rock when he’d look for a second of separation to let it fly.
Ethan Determan Ethan Determan 6'2" | SG Harrisburg | 2023 State SD 6’2’’ Harrisburg
Ethan had a huge breakout season for the Harrisburg Tigers. Coach Langerock does a great job at coaching his teams to play loose and shoot open threes. Ethan fits in perfectly with that style of basketball. Last season, Determan made 66 3-pointers while shooting an impressing 43% from beyond the arc. Ethan was towards the top of scoring in AA and he’ll be back up there again this upcoming season.
Isaac Bruns Isaac Bruns 6'4" | SG Dakota Valley | 2023 State SD 6’4’’ Dakota Valley
It would be crazy not to put last season’s Player of the Year within this list. Last season, this USD commit scored 24.2 points per game while making 41 3-pointers from beyond the arc. Issac is one of the few players in the state with an elite mid-range. It’s safe to say that Bruns will have a similar season, maybe even better, as Dakota Valley looks to defend its state title.
Kaden Year Kaden Year 6'2" | SF O'gorman | 2023 State SD 6’6’’ Sioux Falls Jefferson
Year has one of the purest jumpers in all of South Dakota. Currently, Kaden holds offers from DWU, Morningside, and Briar Cliff while also talking with others. What makes Kaden a great player is how simple his game is. He is an elite catch and shoots player and after watching Kaden play for 3 years, I have yet to see him take a bad shot. Jefferson will be one of the top teams to beat this year and a big part is because of the return of Kaden Year Kaden Year 6'2" | SF O'gorman | 2023 State SD .
Matt Eng Matt Eng 6'0" | PG O’gorman | 2023 State SD 6’2’’ O’gorman
Matt Eng Matt Eng 6'0" | PG O’gorman | 2023 State SD made 72 3-pointers last season. You read that right, SEVENTY-TWO! Matt’s shooting ability helped lead OG to the state title game last season. When Matt gets an open look from 3, it’s essentially a lay-up, leaving his opponents frustrated. I wouldn’t be surprised in Matt hits even more shots from beyond the arc during his senior season.
