Zoom Diallo Zoom Diallo 6'4" | PG Prolific Prep (CA) | 2024 #19 Nation CA-N / Devin Whitten Devin Whitten 6'2" | SG Curtis | 2024 State WA -Curtis HS
This Curtis HS duo is incredibly impressive given they are going to be juniors. I wanted to mention 2023 G Tyce Paulsen Tyce Paulsen 6'5" | SG Curtis | 2023 State WA as well, because he’s a huge part of this Curtis HS team. Zoom is incredibly impressive on the court. He carries himself with a ton of confidence, as he should. His strength stands out to me as a guard and how he is able to use it to his advantage. He’s very good playing off the pick-and-roll, he absorbs contact off the dribble, and has the body control to maintain his balance as a finisher. He can finish at the rim or even float a little floater over the defenders in the paint. Whenever you’re playing Curtis, you will be playing at the pace and speed that Zoom chooses, as he dictates the tempo of the game, often. Devin’s game is a bit different, but still very effective on the court. Whitten is FANTASTIC off the catch and shoot but can also make plays for himself. One thing that stands out in his game to me is his step-back jumper. He’s able to create just enough space to get his shot off, and has a very smooth stroke. He can hit the deep shot from 3/4 feet beyond the line. Just like Zoom, Whitten also has an effective floater in his back pocket. Defensively, he’s a great on ball defender but can play in a zone very well too, using his arms to get in the passing lanes. This Curtis HS team will be hard to stop, coming off a state title win this year and then returning some key players.
Miles Goodman Miles Goodman 6'10" | PF Southern California Academy | 2024 CA-S / Noel Davis Noel Davis 5'11" | PG O'Dea | 2024 State WA -O’Dea HS
This duo is dangerous. And I mean really dangerous. They might be the best duo in the entire state, regardless of class. Miles is incredibly athletic despite standing at 6’10”, he plays like a wing player. He’s has solid handles, great footwork down low, fantastic post moves, and even a mid-range shot that is only improving. His long wingspan allow him to grab boards that most bigs down low can’t. Speaking of boards, he’s a menace on the boards. Goodman will grab every single rebound if the other team doesn’t put a body on him, even then it will be difficult. Noel Davis Noel Davis 5'11" | PG O'Dea | 2024 State WA is one of the most intriguing 2024’s in my eyes. He’s incredibly crafty with the ball and can handle it just as good as anyone in the state. His high basketball IQ is known on the court, as he finds his open teammates all the time. Davis controls the pace of the game really well, deciding whether to run the court, or set up an offensive set. His speed stands out on the court. He can easily drive by defenders to hit the floater in the paint, or attack the defenders at the rim and finish through traffic. Bud is one player that I believe could rise well into the top 10 class of 2024 rankings for PrepHoops WA. O’Dea is always a powerhouse, and this year won’t be any different with Goodman & Davis at the helm.
Trevor Hennig Trevor Hennig 6'4" | SG Mt Si | 2024 State WA / Blake Forrest Blake Forrest 6'0" | PG Mt Si | 2024 State WA -Mount Si HS
This Mount Si backcourt is one of the best in the state as well. Trevor is an absolute lights out shooter. His release is incredibly fast, which makes him really dangerous off the catch and shoot. Due to his quick release, his midrange game is deadly as well. He can stop on a dime and hit the shot with ease. He uses his 6’4” frame very well when driving to the basket, easily getting by his defenders. He will go right to the bucket and go at anyone in the way, or just dump the ball to Miles Heide Miles Heide 6'7" | C Mount Si | 2023 State #274 Nation WA for an easy dunk. Blake shares a lot of the same qualities as Trevor. Forrest is a lights out shooter from deep as well, not afraid to pull from long range. Blake facilitates the offense wonderfully, as the Mount Si team plays so smooth despite having many of the top players in the state. Both guards are great off the pick and roll, able to find their big man or a wing open for 3 in the corner. This duo is going to be EXTREMELY fun to watch.
