Here are some of the standouts from Saturday:
Marion Evans, 6′ G, Midwest Bounce, 2023: Had a monster day stuffing that stat sheet including a 24 pt, 9 steal, 4 rebound performance in a win on the day. Is a big time defender on the ball and has a motor that let’s him pick up full court all game. Does a great job of scoring off the bounce in the paint and absorbs contact well on his finishes. Is a capable shooter from 3 when given space. Good rebounder as well form the guard spot.
Eddie King, 6’4 F, Midwest Bounce, Unsigned Senior: The unsigned senior is a nice prospect still looking for a home. Small ball 4 player with stretching ability knocking down kick out and trail threes. Really gets on the glass hard on both ends, gaining possessions for his squad and creating extra ones on offense.
River Peters River Peters 6'3" | SG Emporia | 2025 State KS , 6’2 G, SSA Elite 2023 Black, 2025: Playing two grades up this weekend, Peters showed he belonged and really accepted the challenge on both ends. His athletic ability allowed him to guard well on the ball, impact the game with his rebounding, and was able to penetrate gaps off the bounce and get to his floater game or find teammates for assists. Knocked down the corner three ball off the catch really consistently throughout the day and had a couple of huge steals down the stretch to help bring his squad back. Gifted scorer and off ball guard in the class of 2025.
Sincere Austin Sincere Austin 5'10" | PG Topeka West | 2023 State KS , 6’2 PG, 810 Varsity Crimson, 2023: Nice athletic point guard with a good change of pace and handle. Good using screens and creates plays for himself and his teammates. Solid shooter from the perimeter and can be a pest guarding the ball or getting in gaps on defense. Had a nice day slashing to the cup, finding teammates, and guarding. Has some upside to his game as well and will have a major role at his high school this year at Topeka West.
Will Thengvall Will Thengvall 6'3" | SF Kapaun | 2024 State KS , 6’3 W, Buddy Buckets, 2024: His wing presence was key for a really good day for Buddy Buckets. Did a lot of the little things today that contribute to winning. Is a great facilitator from the perimeter in their offense, is powerful and explosive on his drives with great efficiency and decision making which leads to a ton of easy buckets for himself or his slashing teammates. Great wing defender on the ball and as a wall up rim protector in the paint. A great two way wing prospect in the 2024 class.
Brian Hawthorne Brian Hawthorne 6'2" | PG St. James | 2023 State KS , 6’3 PG, Drive 5, 2023: Hawthorne continues to be one of my favorite point guards in Kansas. Is so poised, savvy, and crafty at all times especially operating off of high ball screens. Is great playing in the middle area of the floor with nice little jumpers, scanning and finding teammates, and has a little runner game. Tough as nails on both ends of the floor and is not afraid of the moment in big games. Made clutch play after clutch play to hold off a really good Kingdom Hoops team today.
Daniel Cramer, 5’8 PG, WKE Blue, 2025: A true point guard with solid leadership qualities, IQ, and skill operating from the lead guard spot. Solid shooter, passer, on ball defender, and downhill point guard. Really quick player on the floor as well and has a really good motor on him. Just a really solid Saturday for the young point guard.
