Team Comments from coach Zach Edman
Best Memory from the AAU Season
“Being down 18 in the second half and 9 with 2 minutes to go against a really good Minnesota team and coming back and beating them. They had 2 kids who were at least 6’5” and very skilled, and we kept battling, never quit. Eventually, we went on a run late in the game, got big stops, and got the win. Thanks to a great 3 made by Layke Wold Layke Wold 5'10" | CG Chester Area | 2025 State SD with less than 25 seconds to play.“
Hardest Workers
“I had a team full of hard workers. At the same time, Myles Meyer is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever gotten to coach. He comes to practice every day trying to get better. He always asks questions during drills about why we are doing a certain thing or what he can do in his spare time to get better. Even during games, he would come to the sidelines with questions about what he did or he would have comments about what he did wrong and can improve on.“
Best Defenders
“ Hayden Sprik Hayden Sprik 5'11" | CG Platte-Geddes | 2025 State SD is a nightmare for opposing guards. He loves to pick you up full court and get in your shirt and make opposing guards work hard just to get the ball across half court. Then once the other team does get into their offense in the half-court, he is going to jump passing lanes and make it impossible to make easy passes and get to the lane. I can’t count how many steals and transition layups our team had this year that started because of his defensive presence.“
“ Beau Leslie Beau Leslie 5'11" | SG Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD is also a great defender. He took every defensive matchup personally and was determined to not let anyone score on him. It didn’t matter if he was guarding someone 4 inches taller than him and outweighed him by 20 pounds. He was going to be physical and if they were going to score on him, they were going to have to shoot a tough shot. He was also my best rebounder despite never being one of the tallest guys on the court.“
Most Improved
“Braxton Pravecek improved tremendously throughout the summer. The more he grew into his role and realized how best he can impact a game, the more our team succeeded.“
Go-To Player
“There were many times throughout the season we needed a big bucket and every time the ball found its way to Layke Wold Layke Wold 5'10" | CG Chester Area | 2025 State SD . He just has a great feel for the game and knows when his team needs a shot, that he can get open and knock it down. The best part was seeing his teammates trust him to make the right decision in those moments. Whether it be taking the shot, or driving into the paint and kicking it out for someone else to take it.“
Offensive Threats
“Our biggest offensive threats were Layke Wold Layke Wold 5'10" | CG Chester Area | 2025 State SD , Nash Peterswn Nash Peterswn 6'1" | SG Harrisburg | 2025 State SD , and Hayden Sprik Hayden Sprik 5'11" | CG Platte-Geddes | 2025 State SD . All 3 of them had the capability to catch fire from outside the 3-point line at any given moment. They also are all very unselfish players and love to drive into the paint and score or create shots of the rest of the team which is exactly how you want your best players to play.“
