Continue ReadingRYZE Hoops hosted the Battle for Georgia this weekend, bringing together the top programs in Georgia for one tournament to ultimately crown Georgia’s best team at each level. Needless to say, some of the state’s top talent was in the building. These are a couple of guys that stood out to me with their performances in the 16u and 15u divisions.
2024 6’2 G Eli Crawford – TSF
Eli Crawford is an elite point guard who’s confidence speaks volumes in his game. With the ball in his hands, Crawford is always dangerous. He sees the court extremely well and has a knack for shot creation at all 3 levels. He’s got a quick trigger on his outside shot and doesn’t hesitate to pull it. When he gets inside, he’s a crafty finisher and drew several fouls as well. Eli Crawford can provide instant offense at the point guard position and should be a high priority for many college programs.
2024 6’1 G Jeremiah Wilkinson Jeremiah Wilkinson 6'0" | PG TSF | 2024 State #218 Nation GA – Game Elite
Wilkinson is a bouncy, combo guard that provides Game Elite a spark of energy. Wilkinson is at his best in transition where many times he would accelerate past defenders and finish contested layups using his leaping ability. On Sunday, he threw down a couple of emphatic dunks that helped shift the momentum of the game. When Wilkinson’s having fun, he changes the atmosphere in the gym and gets his bench really jumping. Wilkinson’s recruitment has already seen a huge jump this summer and he should continue to rise up boards.
2024 6’7 F Uchechukwku Iloh – Atlanta Celtics
Uchechukwu Iloh is a strong forward that provided the Atlanta Celtics some toughness and physicality inside. Playing alongside some highly-touted recruits, Iloh is one of the under-recruited yet most impactful players on his team. Iloh positions himself well inside using his solid frame and finishes strong through contact. He came down with several tough rebounds over the weekend as well. Iloh is a hard-nosed guy that impacts the game in many different ways and should get more of the attention he deserves.
2024 6’5 G Chase Tyler Chase Tyler 6'4" | SG Hiram | 2024 State GA – Wood Elite
Chase Tyler Chase Tyler 6'4" | SG Hiram | 2024 State GA had undoubtedly the best performance of weekend in a quarterfinal matchup against AE5. Tyler went for 44 points including the go-ahead step-back 3 at the buzzer. He went toe-to-toe with some of the best players in the state and turned into an absolute killer. Whether it was finishing through contact or knocking down tough 3’s, Tyler did it all this weekend. It’s always fun to see an independent program take down a sponsored team but the way that Chase Tyler Chase Tyler 6'4" | SG Hiram | 2024 State GA did it, just doesn’t get much better than that.
2025 6’8 F Caleb Wilson Caleb Wilson 6'10" | PF Holy Innocents | 2025 State #3 Nation GA – AE5/Shooter’s Paradise
Caleb Wilson Caleb Wilson 6'10" | PF Holy Innocents | 2025 State #3 Nation GA is a long, athletic forward with an impressive set of guard skills for his size. Playing up in the 16u division, Wilson showed no signs of it. He looked good handling the ball, bringing it up the floor on several occasions and making some nice passes in transition. His jump shot looked smooth as well. At 6’8, Wilson’s skillset makes him extremely versatile defensively and provides switchability among other defenders. Caleb Wilson Caleb Wilson 6'10" | PF Holy Innocents | 2025 State #3 Nation GA should certainly be a popular name for years to come.
