James Brown James Brown 6'9" | C Link Academy (from Chicago) | 2024 #66 Nation MO (St. Rita)
Brown is the top 2024 in the state of Illinois. The skilled five man from St. Rita has great size, strength, and mobility at 6’9”. He had his skill on full display with excellent moves around the hoop for scores and had several of his usual euro steps in transition for buckets. Volume area rebounder that has strong hands securing them.
Morez Johnson Morez Johnson 6'9" | PF Thornton | 2024 State #33 Nation IL (St. Rita)
Johnson brings so much tenacity every time we see him play. The Illini commit is a four man with a great frame and continues to add strength to his upper body. High level rebounder that gets them both in and out of his area. He goes after them like they are his alone. Finishes with force on the interior throwing down huge slams. Excellent defender blocking shots along with being a lateral defender.
Nojus Indrusaits (St. Rita)
The newest member of the Big 3 had his moments, but you can tell is still trying to find his way with his new squad. The area I thought he showed best as was passing finding the twin towers or Holmes for scores on the move. Didn’t really get a ton of three point looks. Showed burst off the bounce and his fluid athleticism.
Jaylan McElroy Jaylan McElroy 6'7" | PF DePaul Prep | 2024 State #262 Nation IL (DePaul Prep)
McElroy is an athletic power forward that did a nice job playing to his strength in the two games we saw at Ridgewood. The rising junior is very good at getting up and down the floor rim running for points. Rebounds well in traffic high pointing boards, swats shots aggressively, and is efficient with his touches finishing well around the hoop.
Chris Riddle (Kenwood)
Riddle is primed to move into the top 10 in our next update. The strong and athletic two way wing is a prospect that is at his best playing off his freakish athleticism exploding to the hoop in the half court and transition. Very good wing rebounder that has a chance to be a quality defender if he wants to lock in on that end.
Josh Pickett Josh Pickett 6'5" | SG St. Laurence | 2024 State #277 Nation IL (West Aurora)
Pickett had a really nice showing at Ridgewood. The West Aurora combo guard has broad shoulders and the ability to play both on and off the ball. Scored very effectively from all three levels throughout the event over multiple games. Pull ups from two and three. Got to the rim where he finished extremely well. Passed it well on the move finding his teammates for drive and kicks or dump offs inside.
Meyoh Swansey Meyoh Swansey 6'3" | SG Thornton | 2024 State IL (Romeoville)
Swansey shined in the game we caught against St. Rita. The 2024 combo guard is a good athlete that was effective on both ends. Pesky defender that had active hands. His jumper was on point as well draining quite a few pull ups from mid-range and three. One to watch on a talented Romeoville squad.
Kenric Mosby Kenric Mosby 6'7" | C Perspectives | 2024 State IL (Perspectives)
Mosby really caught our attention with how he played on Saturday night of the event. The 6’7” Simeon transfer is going to be extremely impactful for Perspectives. Long and lanky build with the ability to alter shots on the defensive end. Had much more skill than we had previously seen knocking in 15 foot jumpers, passing it well, and throwing down explosive slams.
Shaheed Solebo Shaheed Solebo 6'4" | SF Lane Tech | 2024 State IL (Lane Tech)
Solebo is a lefty wing with a good build who came out on the last day of the event looking to make a statement! Did just that especially in the first half where he attacked the rim with force. Pushes well off the defensive glass coast to coast. Very effective in the transition game with his speed. Capable jump shooter that knocked them in from the corner and a sweet pull up inside the arc.
Jehvion Starwood Jehvion Starwood 6'3" | SG Oswego East | 2024 State #269 Nation IL (Oswego East)
Starwood had a monster showing in the games we saw Oswego East play. Lefty wing that transferred over from Yorkville Christian had it all working. He is a smooth athlete that loves to play in transition where he can use his springy legs for dunks. Also a sound three point shooter especially off the catch. Rangy defender that can check multiple positions. One to watch heading into the season!
