This rising sophomore was one of my favorite players to watch this weekend. If you’re building a grassroots team, Wilcek would be the centerpiece.
He shot the ball extremely well, rebounded anytime a shot went up, and displayed a solid handle when pressured bringing it up the court. He was able to attack off the dribble using his physical frame to bulldoze through the paint. There wasn’t anything I could critique on his game. Excellent teammate, always smiling, and just a great attitude. Cole Wilcek will play basketball at the next level.
2025 6’0 Drew Daoust
The Wisconsin native showed me something I don’t normally see from Midwest PG’s. He was a floor general when needed to be, was a great ball-handler, and put a shooting clinic hitting 6/8 3’s.
Drew was absolute lights out from DEEP beyond the 3-point line. He scored at all 3 levels, and attacked the basket finishing with a soft touch, even through contact. I believe the game I caught he had a cool 33 points. This point guard was scrappy on D, read passing lanes and even though he was the leading scorer he took smart shots and got his team involved. I’d expect his stock to rise going into his sophomore session.
2025 6’1 Michael Cooper
Team Teague’s lead guard was a blur in the open court, Michael displayed incredible ball handling breaking down most of the defenders in front of him.
He finished a handful of tough skilled lay ups generally slicing his way through contact. Cooper also knocked down a couple of open 3’s. His speed set the pace for this extremely athletic Team Teague. Both games I watched him play he had 20 plus each.
2025 6’3 Shane Sims
The tough guard has a physical frame for a rising sophomore. His teams knock down shooter he provided the firepower from behind the arc to open the floor up for the teams skilled slashers.
Sims just happened to be one of those that was getting to the rim as well. He was a tough cover. What I loved most was his defensive effort, he took pride in staying in front of his man and preventing paint touches. He dove for lose balls and showed he was capable of handling the ball as lead guard.
2025 5’8 D’ron Michael
D’ron is gifted in the ability to score regardless of his size. He was a vocal leader on the floor, he was looking to get his teammates involved even in opportunities he could have clearly scored. Michael was unselfish with the ball, he gets his job done with minimal dribbles and ran his coaches offense to a T.
With that said, when his team was down or the game was close. He was the go to guy to get a bucket. He finished at the rim with either hands by way of creating his own space with an effective handle. He also knocked down his open 3’s and If I recall shot 6/6 on free throws . D’Ron plays with a chip on his shoulder. This is a guard that shouldn’t be underestimated.
