The Hustle Region Circuit consists of AAU Programs from California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, and New Mexico. The circuit features 10 stops including the Hustle Region Final in Irvine July 15th – 17th. For stop number 9 we head to Atlanta Georgia for our certified event. The event was home to several big men. In this article, we take a look at the top Bigs from the event.
Luke Wagstaff Luke Wagstaff 6'7" Fort Collins | 2023 CO 6’7 PF Team Daum 2023 – If you’re going to be a below-the-rim big, then you better be highly skilled, and Wagstaff is highly skilled. The power forward showed good footwork and patience this weekend. He can turn over either shoulder and did a good job using counters and pump fakes to keep opponents off balance.
Collin Mullholand 6’10 PF Minnesota Heat 2023 – I was so happy to get to see Mullholand play this weekend. The big man is a unicorn with big-time stretchability. His favorite thing to do is to space and shoot, however this weekend, I thought he played well on the defensive end. The Canadian import was able to protect the rim, and even get off the floor and block shots outright. His skill and two-way play, make him an intriguing prospect.
Trey’Dez Green Trey’Dez Green 6'8" | PF Zachary | 2024 State #54 Nation LA 6’8 PF LA Broncos 2024 – Green is one of the top Football recruits in America. He has a future in basketball as well if he wants it. The athletic forward was all over the court this weekend. Getting second-chance points, catching and finishing, and protecting the rim. His size and strength are huge problems, and when he’s playing with a high motor he becomes almost unstoppable. He was almost unstoppable this weekend.
Jackson Jakstys 6’9 PF Basketball Paradise 2024 – Jakstys caught my eye when battling against Green. The big man runs the floor fluidly and showed good hands and a nice soft touch around the rim. He more than held his own against the high-flying Green, showing the ability to rebound and protect the rim at a high level.
Graham Eikenberry Graham Eikenberry 6'10" | PF St Andrew’s RI | 2023 State OR 6’11 C BDH Elite 2023 – It’s hard not to love Eikenberry. Before we get into the skills, as a teammate, he may be one of the best I’ve seen on the circuit. He is a terrific communicator who is constantly encouraging. He takes those communication skills to the floor as well. Eikenberry remained talking when in help defense, and provided his usual rim protection and rebounding this weekend for BDH.
Kadyen Betts 6’8 PF Pluto Prospects 2023 – Betts is a hybrid forward type, capable of playing with his back to the basket or facing up. It didn’t matter how he played this weekend, as he dominated. The future Golden Gopher scored 89 points over the course of two games, showing off an array of finishing moves, and proving to be one of the top players overall at the event.
Charlie Dortch Charlie Dortch 6'7" Rocky Mountain | 2023 CO 6’8 C Pluto Prospects 2023 – I’ve watched Dortch since his freshman season, and the combination of him and Betts in the frontcourt was a problem. He was decent on the backboards, however, his best skill was undoubtedly his ability to score with his back to the basket. Dortch played with patience and showed a soft touch around the rim, especially when turning over his left shoulder.
Joel Brown Joel Brown 6'8" | C Marshall | 2023 State IL 6’8 PF Flee Club 2023 – Brown was a revelation, that checks a lot of the physical trait boxes. He has long arms and a big body. His skills are pretty good as well. Brown was one of the best in traffic rebounders I saw, using said long arms to go over and through opponents to pursue the ball. Offensively, he was a monster that was able to score effectively with his back to the basket.
