Saturday’s Best
Kenneth Hayes |6’5 SG| PAC Elite Basketball 2023
He is a long and agile athlete. He showed off his athleticism when skying up for a tip-in basket. A bit later, Hayes scored in transition with a coast-to-coast finish. Kenneth is a crisp passer and he scored with O-board putbacks. He put in an impressive floater over a long-armed defender. His pull-up 3-pointer was fantastic. Hayes stopped on a dime and pulled up with a quick release. It was a tough shot but Kenneth made it look easy. This player looked like a stud on Saturday afternoon. Hayes finished with 19 points in the game that I watched.
Sam Skinner Sam Skinner 5'9" | SG Heelan | 2023 State IA |5’10 G| Arena Basketball Club 2023-2 Berridge
His jumper was smoking hot in the afternoon. He was draining 3’s like they were going out of style. Skinner was excellent in the catch-and-shoot game. He also hit many pull-up jumpers. Sam hit from deep, just inside the arc, and in the paint. Skinner was also penetrating, getting to the rim, and drawing contact for FT’s. Sam put up a cool 22 points in the big Saturday afternoon win.
Jon Weah |6’0 G| E2E Elite 2023-1
He is an athletic and strong guard. Weah was living at the line in the game I watched. He had multiple AND1 finishes where he scored through contact. He is an electric guard that had many blow-by drives and beautiful no-look dimes. He is an aggressive attacker and an AND1 aficionado. Jon was also scoring with O-board putbacks. He is a quick leaper and a standout athlete.
Rocco Richie Rocco Richie 6'0" | SG Mt. Horeb | 2023 WI |6’2 G| RIT Elite 2023
I did not have to watch long to see that this player is a shooter. Richie showed a phenomenal floater/runner from the baseline. It was soft, accurate, and buttery smooth. He also looked good shooting it from beyond the arc. Rocco sets his feet quickly and he lets it fly with a soft and accurate shooting touch. Richie also made hustle plays. Rocco battled for the ball and he came up with a big rebound late in the game. He is a smooth overall player with a great feel for the game.
Bennett Buss |5’9 PG| Wisconsin Academy 2025 Thompson
He is a pure shooter and a cold-blooded scorer. Buss hit triples off the catch and off the bounce. Late in the game, Bennett hit a monster pull-up 3-ball to take the lead by 1-point. A bit later in the game, Buss drilled a 15-foot jumper to tie the game up with less than 20 seconds on the clock. He was great at creating separation and he did not seem to mind when a defender had a hand in his face. This player is a gamer with a sweet pull-up game.
Karsten Moret Karsten Moret 6'3" | SG Western Christian | 2025 State IA |6’2 G| Arena Basketball Club 2025-1 Snyder
This kid is a gamer and a clutch shooter! Moret knocked down a deep 3-pointer as the buzzer was sounding in overtime. It was from the left-wing and he caught and shot with confidence. You could tell it was going in right when it left his hand! It was a great game vs. Wisconsin Academy and Karsten stepped up to the plate when his team needed it the most!
Kaden Van Regenmorter Kaden Van Regenmorter 6'3" | SF Hull, Western Christian | 2025 State IA |6’2 G| Arena Basketball Club 2025-1 Snyder
He made multiple unselfish passes in transition. They led to easy buckets for his squad. He drew the defense’s attention and delivered a cool bounce pass. This proved that Kaden has a great touch. Kaden showed off a smooth pull-up jumper from 15-feet. I love he broke down his defender and then dished to teammates. He also did his fair share of scoring in transition. Kaden showed quick/sneaky hands-on defense that led to turnovers. He also cashed in from beyond the arc. Kaden dished the assist for the game-winning buzzer-beater 3-ball. Kaden is a big strong, and athletic guard. He certainly looks like a scholarship-level player.
Owen Vander Pol |6’5 PF| Arena Basketball Club 2025-1 Snyder
This big athlete makes dunking look easy. He is a strong beast and a physical rebounder. Owen has good feet and hands. He showed a very nice spin move in the lane when scoring at the rim. Owen was attacking the basket, his defender tried to cut him off, he turned on the spin cycle and he left the D in the dust. I like this player’s game, he has a ton of potential and a bright future.
Khijohn Cummings-Coleman |6’2 G| MN Heat 2024 Fleury
To say that this player is athletic would be an understatement. He makes the game looks easy. Khijohn can do it all. He was driving and dropping dimes. He threw a nice no-look pass that resulted in 2 points for the Heat. He was grabbing extra possessions with offensive rebounds. Khijohn also nailed multiple three-pointers. His J was smooth and there was no stopping him. One of the 3’s came from the right-wing and it was well beyond NBA range. This player is dynamic!
Marcus Bailey |6’0 G| MN Heat 2024 Fleury
He stood out by getting to the FT line often. Marcus penetrated through the initial line of defense and drew contact on the way to the rim. He showed excellent body control when knocking down an off-balance shot. He was great at avoiding the defense. Bailey is a long guard and a pesky defender. On Saturday night, Marcus was slashing through traffic and finishing at the rim on the regular. This kid has game.
