Cal Weatherspoon Chaminade-Julienne
Weatherspoon plays with such a high motor which is typical from C-J and their guys. Only 5-foot-9, Weatherspoon covers a ton of ground with his speed on the defensive end and showed me he is not afraid to go guard the bigger guards. On the offensive end, he’s more of a setup guy for the Eagles and is tasked with getting the ball to the Eagles’ many offensive weapons. That being said, Weatherspoon impressed with his pull-up jumper off the attacking dribble.
Kevin Gallagher Grove City
Gallagher was another good standout for the Greyhounds as they played tough with Oak Hills. The lefty PG has a tight handle and did good creating space against defenses. Didn’t necessarily jump off the page with his shooting but was more of a slasher in Grove City’s matchup and got plenty of paint touches. I’d like to see Gallagher develop his right hand more as he struggled when forced to his right and getting shots up on the right side of the rim.
Andrea Holden Andrea Holden 6'5" | C Hamilton | 2024 State OH Hamilton
Holden was arguably the most athletic player in the gym Thursday as he brought elite vertical leaping combined with his strong 6-foot-7 frame. It was clear Hamilton wanted him to be a big man, but Holden can step out and play on the perimeter. Disruptive defender with his long arms and potential headline rim protecting. Holden is a bit unknown in my opinion and we should see more of what he can do this July with Midwest Basketball Club.
Steele Meister Steele Meister 6'4" | PF Newark | 2024 State OH Newark
I think Meister is the definition of a true culture guy with how he performed for the Wildcats in a highly interesting matchup with Wayne. A true competitor, Meister has inside-out potential with his stretch 4 like handle along with his bigger frame. Only 6-foot-4, he’s certainly undersized for a wing but can really get after it and battle with bigger or more athletic players. I like the combo of Meister and Grant Burkholder Grant Burkholder 5'9" | PG Newark | 2023 State OH and with solid coaching, Newark could create some problems for Central Ohio teams this Winter.
