Shaun Cannady, 6-foot-5 forward, KC Washington, KC Spurs:
Cannady has been a nice contributor to both his high school and club teams for a while now. He continues to grow his game into his impressive physique. Cannady brings a rare blend of power and finesse to the Spurs. He can run and jump with the best of them, but he has a broad frame and a strong upper body. He is probably at his best running the floor and going after offensive rebounds.
Mile Hinkle, 6-foot-4 forward, Basehor-Linwood, MOKAN:
Hinkle is a hard-working post who stood out for his defense at the Hoops City Classic. He fronts posts effectively in the lane, and he showed he can be a good on-ball defender too, moving his feet against drivers and getting set to try to draw charges. On offense, Hinkle made some nice athletic attacks of the rim off entry passes and he posts up with power.
Lorenzo Johnson, 6-foot-2 forward, Schlagle, Kansas 94×50 Elite:
Johnson is long overdue for some praise from Prep Hoops. The guy is a workhorse for Kansas 94×50 Elite, pounding the glass and providing a powerful presence in the paint. He is one of the hardest working players every weekend, and he does all the dirty work a coach could ask for. He can run and jump, making him an option on the break, and he can score against taller players in the low post.
Aboloulaye Kante, 6-foot-7 forward, Shawnee Mission East, KC Spurs (pictured):
Here’s a player to keep an eye on. After moving to Shawnee Mission East a year ago, Kante is really growing his game this summer. Long and athletic, Kante has a lot of skills to his versatile game. He can really handle the ball and face the basket, but he can also post up effectively. He runs the floor and protects the rim. He works hard and plays smart too.
Blake Kilian Blake Kilian 6'6" | SF Blue Valley West | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-4 forward, Blue Valley West, KC Spurs:
Just because Killian hasn’t made a name for himself on the varsity level yet doesn’t mean he hasn’t been on the Prep Hoops radar for a long time. We’ve enjoyed what this long, athletic forward can do for over a year now. Passing may be his best trait. He made some impressive interior passes at the Hoops City Classic, and he moves the ball smartly on the perimeter. He dribbled into some nice shots in the lane, ran the pick and roll for buckets, and demonstrated an effective jump hook.
Nick Ogden, 6-foot-3 forward, De Soto, KC Spurs:
Ogden teams with Cannady to give the Spurs a powerful one-two punch in the post. He’s well built and plays strong, but he also has the skills to stretch the floor and shoot it from the perimeter. Ogden showed at the Hoops City Classic he is a strong rebounder and defender in the post. He plays with intelligence and makes good decisions.
