Continue Reading(Pictured)Had a great Hardwood Classic session showcasing his ever increasing versatility on the basketball floor. Super long arms paired with athleticism make him a great wing and paint defender, while on offense he can play the roles of point forward, post smaller guards, run wings, slash, and is an improving perimeter shooter. Potential remains through the roof.
Will be the focal point for Carroll this season with his talent level and ability to do a little bit of everything which he showcased this weekend at the Hardwood. Great passer from the paint, surveying from the perimeter, or posting up in the mid/low post. Another longer guard/wing who can score it efficiently and really understands the game and when to pick his spots. Capitalized this July and capped off a stock building month at the Hardwood.
Highlights
The big time talent at point guard ran the show for his Buckets squad and really controlled the tempo in each game. Lightning quick with the ball in his hands, he was able to get a ton of paint touches and either locate his plethora of shooters, or score it with floaters or touches off the glass. Is in line to really run the show at Heights to defend that state title and this past weekend showed he has the tools to do it.
Another consistent shooting outing for the West product. Really great flow to his game and his confidence and consistency in his shot approach always makes him dangerous from 3. Showcased this past weekend a good counter game to his shooting off the dribble, cutting, and defending. Continuously improving his game each weekend, the Hardwood was a great showcase of his talent.
After suffering a foot injury that kept him out most of June and July, Dutton got his first action in the top pool at the Hardwood Sunflower Showcase and got better in each of the 4 games on the weekend as he got more comfortable back on the court, gaining momentum back in his high level play, recruiting, and conditioning heading into the end of the summer. A very savvy guard both with and without the ball, Dutton began to get back to slashing, being crafty finishing, and making plays for himself and others.
Finally tabbed to be one of the “vets” for a really talented Aquinas team this year, Rost put together a really solid end of July at the Hardwood Sunflower Showcase. His size at the two spot coupled with his elite shooting off the catch even in tight windows to operate are still the stand out, but you can tell the focus was there this weekend with him to display a more overall game. Defended pretty well on the perimeter, surveyed the defense and made some good passes, got to the mi range some, and had some finishes in transition.
