Throughout this past weekend, there were multiple big time performances from our Indiana prospects at all age groups which should come as no surprise with how many talented in-state players participate in the Grit Region. Today, we take a look at some 2024 and 2025 forward evaluations.
Cal Bostic Cal Bostic 6'7" | C Park Tudor | 2025 State IN – 6’7 PF/C – Park Tudor – EG10 2025: Bostic is a big power forward/center that plays very maturely for his younger age. Physically, he has all the tools at this point in time. Runs the floor very hard and can defend at a high level. Stretched the floor a little with a nice baseline jumper. Lot of upside here.
Kolt Nelson Kolt Nelson 6'6" | PF Franklin | 2025 State IN – 6’6 PF – Franklin Community – EG10 2025: Nelson is an undersized power forward at the moment. What stood out to me was his shot blocking ability because he had a ton of blocks and was a natural at locating the ball. Needed to see a bit more of offensive game to get a full evaluation but was impressed on the defensive end. Needs to continue to get stronger and add muscle.
Ben Crouch – 6’3 SF – Jay County – All Area Basketball Program 2025: Crouch is a lanky wing that plays really hard. Has a little awkwardness to his game but love the way he competes. Did a good job of recovering at times and following his shot. Defenders vertically and is a solid rebounder. Needs to really add some weight to his slim frame.
Ben Slagley – 6’2 SF – New Palestine – D1 Indiana 2025: Slagley is an undersized forward but plays real smart. Thought he was solid around the block and finished well through contact with great footwork. Toughness was on full display and he was solid on the offensive boards.
Andy Spoelman Andy Spoelman 6'6" | PF Illiana Christian | 2024 State IN – 6’4 PF – Illiana Christian – Team GRIII 2024 Elite: Spoelman was another standout for me this weekend. Really good size right now and has some real solid versatility. Displayed great handles for his size and did a great job protecting the rim and you could tell he wanted to block everything. Does have a pretty outside shot but just needs to work on connecting on them a little more. He is a guy to keep an eye these next couple of years.
Jake Smith – 6’4 PF/C – Lake Central – Team GRIII 2024 Elite: Smith is a bog body that takes up a lot of space in the post. He was solid in the post and thought he played real physical. He is a little undersized but has good footwork which helps hum out a ton. Just needs to finish at a more consistent rate.
