There were multiple division one coaches in the gym looking at the enormous array of talent. Check out my analysis on some of the top Texas prospects from the event!
Shelton Henderson Shelton Henderson 6'7" | SF Bellaire | 2025 State #89 Nation TX 2025 6’5 Bellaire High School (JL3 EYBL E15)
Shelton is one of the most dominant young players I have seen play this year. I was blown away finding out that he was a 2025 with the amount of strength and agility he has on his actual frame and in his game. He has massive hands that allow him to catch tough passes and quickly put the ball on the floor to get out of trouble. He is fearless at attacking the rim and is a beast at finishing through contact. In a playoff battle with Seven Lakes, he made light work of a 6’8 defensive minded junior big man, posterizing him on the break and finishing two “And-1s” over him. He is dominant at using quick moves out of a triple threat to get his defender off balance and attack the basket. Henderson’s aggressiveness and ability to get into the actual paint with a live dribble is elite already.
However his aggressiveness is not only on the offensive end of the floor as he hunts for his shots in the mid-range and the paint, he is great at tying up ball handlers as they go to split a double team or get free after a rebound. He was great at getting his long arms into his opponent and poking the ball free, or coming up with chase down blocks. His frame and strength on the defensive end of the floor should allow him to easily defend guards and wings, even at the next level. This is one elite prospect that you need to keep your eyes on over the next few years.

Jae’Coby is a prospect that has made a tremendous leap this summer, calmly and confidently developing all aspects of his game. He has the ability to affect the game on the interior and play the small ball forward for his team, allowing them to play five out. He affects the game like a more skilled and effective Draymond Green, handling the ball on the perimeter and running the pick and roll as the ball handler or the screener. He is a good screener allowing his guards to have a second longer to set their feet and score beyond the arc. Where I have seen the most development since the beginning of the summer was his ability to score off the bounce in the mid-range and attacking the basket. He looks even more confident with his handle and his ability to turn the corner on his opponent and get to the rim with his strong frame. His shot from beyond the arc has dramatically improved as well, going 4-5 in the first half of the game I watched, including a first half buzzer beater.
Defensively, he knows how athletic he is and how well he can use his ability to leap to fight on the interior. He constantly outworks bigger opponents, boxing them out and sealing them off. I was very impressed with how many rebounds he collected, or tapping it out to his guards. I was very impressed with how well he defended the perimeter, or anchored his defense from the paint. He quickly closed out on opponents and ensured that he cut off their angles.
O’ Marion Harvey 2025 6’6 Fulshear High School (JL3 EYBL E16)
O’Marion is an incredible athlete who is willing to fight and do all of the dirty work necessary to help his team be successful. He has a great motor and is willing and able to defend any position on the court. He moves his feet at a very high level, allowing him to defend on the ball and use his length to harass ball handlers. His athleticism allows him to be a real weapon across every inch of the court, moving his feet to play the passing lanes and run coast to coast. He tipped multiple passes and was able to run the other way and finish in the paint. He is very confident with his handle in the open court, knowing he finishes at such a high level over seemingly anyone.
Where he is the most successful is down low, on both ends of the court. He fights hard for positioning, constantly outworking out boxing out bigger opponents. He is athletic and works hard to fight and thrives at the small ball 4 spot. When he grabs defensive rebounds, he always pushes the pace and keeps his head up to attack in the open court or make the right pass ahead. Harvey has all of the offensive tools and skill set to develop into a high level wing or forward at the next level.
Chris McDermott Chris McDermott 6'7" | SF Booker T. Washington | 2024 State #159 Nation TX 2024 6’8 Booker T Washington High School (JL3 EYBL E16)
Chris is a very impressive prospect who is skilled enough to play alongside another big man, and play out of the high post. He can play out of the mid-post, out of the triple threat or with his back to the basket. He smartly and quickly attacks his defender before the help defender can come over. He has a confident post turn around, and can hit it at the elbow or stretching the floor on the wings and the corners. When he is backing smaller opponents down, he is strong and knows how to effectively use a drop step into dunk on his opponent. He is a high level rebounder, who knows how to high point the ball and constantly clear the glass. He can out leap bigger defenders, but also works to box out his opponents and allow himself or his teammates to grab uncontested rebounds. Mcdermott is a very intriguing prospect who seems to have all of the tools be to become a dominant forward at the next level.
