There were multiple division one coaches in the gym looking at the enormous array of talent. Check out my analysis on some of the top Texas prospects from the event!
Shelton Henderson Shelton Henderson 6'7" | SF Bellaire | 2025 State #89 Nation TX 2025 6’5 Bellaire High School (JL3 Elite Battle)
Shelton is one of the most dominant young players I have seen play this year. I was blown away finding out that he was a 2025 with the amount of strength and agility he has on his actual frame and in his game. He has massive hands that allow him to catch tough passes and quickly put the ball on the floor to get out of trouble. He is fearless at attacking the rim and is a beast at finishing through contact. In a playoff battle with Seven Lakes, he made light work of a 6’8 defensive minded junior big man, posterizing him on the break and finishing two “And-1s” over him. He is dominant at using quick moves out of a triple threat to get his defender off balance and attack the basket. Henderson’s aggressiveness and ability to get into the actual paint with a live dribble is elite already.
However his aggressiveness is not only on the offensive end of the floor as he hunts for his shots in the mid-range and the paint, he is great at tying up ball handlers as they go to split a double team or get free after a rebound. He was great at getting his long arms into his opponent and poking the ball free, or coming up with chase down blocks. His frame and strength on the defensive end of the floor should allow him to easily defend guards and wings, even at the next level. This is one elite prospect that you need to keep your eyes on over the next few years.
Christian Jones Christian Jones 5'10" | PG BFL Prep Academy | 2025 WA 2025 5’10 Katy Mayde Creek High School (LOFDL EYBL E15)
Christian is a high level point guard who thrives at getting his shot off the bounce across all three levels of the floor. This guard really shined during his time on the court, confidently getting to his spots in the mid-range after shifting his on ball defender. His quickness with a live dribble really stood out, constantly manipulating the defense with his change of pace in the half court. He was an elite play-maker out of the pick and roll, making the right reads and picking apart the defense’s rotations. Another aspect of his game that I loved watching was his ability to euro step through traffic, and really make his gather steps useful as he exploded past his opponent. His awareness on the offensive end was impressive, never seeming to get in the way of his teammates whenever he was off the ball and constantly finding them with creative passes.
At the recent TABC showcase, I heard he exploded for 45 points in a single game! If you are in the Houston area, check out this young bull as soon as possible! He is a high level scorer and play-maker with some other young assets around him at Mayde Creek! As a freshman, he exploded for his district record in scoring as a freshman for 30 points, was named the newcomer of the year, averaging almost 15 points and 5 assists, and hit 99 threes on the year! He is ready to go, I know I will be in town for some games this year to see this first hand again!

Jamal is a skilled combo guard who is a great pairing with Christian Jones Christian Jones 5'10" | PG BFL Prep Academy | 2025 WA , calmly knocking down shot after shot off the catch. He is a real weapon who moves without the basketball to get free and finds weak spots in the defense to be an open passing option for his lead guard. He calmly moves into space and is always ready to knock down shots off the catch. He has unlocked the coveted fourth level of the defense, calmly rising up from a step or two beyond the arc. I was very impressed with how his shot mechanics stayed the same from seemingly everywhere on the floor. He is not just a spot up shooter however, when the defense keys on him and closes out hard, he uses head fakes to blow by defenders on his way to the rim. He confidently uses his frame to attack smaller guards off the bounce and even finished with consistency over taller defenders. His frame is also effective as an on ball defender, allowing him to take on strong defensive match-ups and take pressure off of his smaller point guard. Chretien is already showing off the skill and willingness to do the little things that all coaches at the next level covet.
Michael Collins Michael Collins 6'1" | PG Shadow Creek | 2025 State TX 2025 6’0 Shadow Creek High School (JL3 Elite Battle)
Michael is a sharp-shooting guard who controls the game like a point guard with how quickly he is able to make the right reads. He has been utilized as a combo guard for most of his high school career at Shadow Creek, playing off of eventual Division One point guard. This has allowed him to really focus on his ability to catch and shoot and space the floor. He HHHis a consistent spot up shooter from the wings and the corners, and really seems to have a feel for staying out of the way of his high level teammates and always being ready to be a shooting option for them. His patience and willingness to take what the defense gives him, allows his teammates to be more open and successful as a result of his unselfishness. Where I have seen the most growth from him since Shadow Creek’s playoff run, is his ability to operate out of the pick and roll. He calmly makes the right reads and even made high level passes to find rolling teammates and open teammates on the backside. I was very impressed with how well he has been controlling and operating as the lead point guard for his team and finding teammates on the fast break. He loves pushing the tempo and finding his athletic teammates for lob opportunities.
Kholman Dutton 2025 6’2 Bellaire High School (JL3 Elite Battle)
Kohlman is an athletic and hard working guard with a lot of skill to his game. He showed an ability to hit the pull up three off the bounce, as well as putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim. He was patient and did not try to do too much, and really got his within the flow of the offense. Defensively, he is not afraid to slide over and protect the rim, as well as use his active hands to poke the ball free as his opponent slashed to the rim. He is an elite help defender with his willingness to do whatever is necessary depending on the situation. He is not afraid to put his body on the line to draw a charge or even protect the rim at his height. He is going to be playing alongside some real talent at Bellaire this year, if you are in the Houston area be sure to check this team out this year!
