Bryce Heard Bryce Heard 6'6" | SG Homewood Flossmoor | 2025 State #86 Nation IL 6-5 Kenwood (IL) Recently minted as a top 25 national recruit. Heard came in and lived up to the hype. From jaw dropping dunks in warm-ups. To his actual game play. Looked every bit of an elite prospect. Standout game was high level shoe circuit matchup with Wisconsin Playground Club. Used his size to see over defenders and distribute well. But it was slashing drives that exploited the defense throughout the contest. Wrapped things up on Sunday with 18 points in a win over a good My Journey squad (see below) Heard showed he is well on his way to becoming a national priority recruit in the 2025 class.
Jeremiah Fears Jeremiah Fears 6'1" | PG AZ Compass Prep | 2025 State #31 Nation AZ 6-1 Joliet West (IL) With Hoops 4 Health being on full participant on the Prep Hoops Circuit. I watched a lot of Fears in the spring. At times he looked like a skilled player who was still adjusting to the challenge of playing up two age divisions. As the summer begins get rid of the adjusting part of that phrase. Fears penetrated at will throughout the weekend. Showing a high level of speed and athletic burst. Doesn’t have a lot bulk right now. But had no problems finishing at the rim once he got there. Was a good dump off passer. Operated well In the pick and roll with Tyler Van Gorp Tyler Van Gorp 6'10" | C New Trier | 2023 State IL . Like Heard trending towards being a national recruit.
Camden Thompson Camden Thompson 6'5" | SF Whitehall Vikings | 2025 State MI 6-4 Whitehall (MI) Thompson’s Hardwood Midwest club is a perfect 12-0 on the Prep Hoops Circuit. The play of this multi faceted forward is a big reason why. Did it all in a nip and tuck victory over Fundamental U. Is a true three level scorer. Even does the “wrong” things will. Thompson showed a knack for finding teammates after getting caught in the air. Leaving your feet without options drives coaches nuts. Thompson has good hang time which allows him to be patient in the air. The class of 2025 is very deep with forwards in West Michigan (see below) Thompson should be near the top of that list.
Al Brooks Jr 6-5 Hansberry College Prep (IL) This is a double and triple check your roster type of player. Has the type type of physical gifts you usually see in upper class men. Furthering the confusion. Brooks was playing up a grade level with Chicagoland Grint and Grind. Furthermore led them an undefeated record on the weekend. In waning moments of the tournament. Brooks turned in an excellent performance on Sunday afternoon against Illinois Hoop Stars 2024. Long and very lanky frame. But thick enough to play in the post as well. However when the game got close the ball was in Brooks’ hands as the de facto point guard.
Colby Smith Colby Smith 6'3" | PG New Trier | 2025 State IL 6-2 New Trier (IL) Led Full Package Black to a 3-1 record on the weekend. Varied backcourt skill set. Showed the ability to play both at the the point and off the ball. Has a trigger quick release from beyond the arc. Textbook form and keeps his shoulders square to the basket. Wrapped things up with a 21 point performance in a victory over All In Athletics on Sunday. When Jake Fiegen Jake Fiegen 6'3" | SG New Trier | 2023 State IL moves on after this year. New Trier will have another shooter locked and ready to go.
Second Team
Christian Cummings 5-10 Rockford Christian (IL) Small point guard had a good weekend for Mac Irvin Fire. Along with Bryce Heard Bryce Heard 6'6" | SG Homewood Flossmoor | 2025 State #86 Nation IL led his squad to undefeated record on the weekend. Speed makes him a defensive weapon.
Atticus Richmond Atticus Richmond 6'7" | PF Stevenson | 2025 State IL 6-7 Deerfield (IL) While Smith was holding down the perimeter. Richmond was doing the dirty work down low. Has good vertical size and a fluid athletic frame. Also has the athleticism to make plays out in transition. Had a few highlight reel dunks.
BJ Walker BJ Walker 6'2" | PF Zeeland East | 2025 State MI 6-2 Zeeland East (MI) Walker turned in an impressive clutch performance for West Michigan Lakers. Scored 25 points including the game winner in OT against Powerhouse Sports. Did most of his work in the mid range and the post. Impressive for a 6-2 player. Should be able to operate more on the perimeter in the regular season as the Chix (favorite mascot) will feature 2024 post recruit Layne Risdon Layne Risdon 6'9" | C Zeeland East | 2024 State MI
Connor Fitzgerald 5-8 Fenwick (IL) Small but very tough point guard had a good weekend for My Journey 2025. Late outside shooting kept his squad in it against a very good Mac Irvin Fire team. Had six threes in that contest finishing with 25 points.
Terrence Smith 6-4 West Aurora (IL) Fitzgerald’s teammate on My Journey. Doesn’t have the eye opening statistics of the other players on this list. But what he does have is a eye opening physical profile. Long lean athlete who got out transition quickly.
