I focused my attention to the local players and here are some 17U players that caught me eye:
Corey Wood Corey Wood 6'7" | SF ALA-Ironwood | 2023 State AZ ALA-Ironwood (Team RHJ 17U)
The long wing showed what everyone already knew and that was that he can shoot. I was pleasantly surprised that he’s more than a shooter. He showed that the was willing to get his hands dirty by contending for rebounds and getting deflections on defense.
Michael Calvin PG 5’11 2024 Mesquite (Taylor Made Elite 17U)
A tough point guard whose court presence seems to be his calling card. He also showed good energy on the defensive end.
Roman Cummings Roman Cummings 6'8" | PF Skyline Prep | 2024 State AZ Chandler (AZ Firestorm 17U)
Slasher is the first thing that I noticed. He seemed to get to the rim in two steps. He filled the lanes on the break very nicely by sprinting to the open spots. He also showed a nice form on his jump shot.
Jaydon S Cameron Jaydon S Cameron 6'4" | SG Deer Valley | 2023 State AZ Deer Valley (AZ Firestorm 17U)
His catch and shoot game is among the best in his class. He gets it off so quick that you can’t give him any space. He showed the potential to be a good slasher. He’s working his way back from a serious knee injury.
Tyreek Dean Tyreek Dean 6'4" | SF Taylor Made Prep | 2023 State AZ Taylor Made Prep (Team RHJ 17U)
Tyreek was a terror in the open court. He was either going baseline or going down the middle. Not many play harder then him with a real motor.
Dayon Green Dayon Green 5'10" | PG Betty Fairfax | 2025 AZ Fairfax (Pal Elite 17U)
The Fairfax guard was playing up and more than held his own. He showed excellent control of the ball and was always looking to find an open teammate.
