Indiana Elite is the team representing the state in that circuit and they were all in action today in the first round matchups, all three teams victorious. Here are some takeaways from one of Indiana’s primer AAU programs on day one of the Adidas 3SSB Championship.
All Three Teams Dominate
Indiana Elite was arguably the most dominant program at Adidas last night. All three teams won in incredible fashion with 17u winning 73-53, 16u winning 80-49, and 15u winning 76-28. Granted, there was not really a challenge for them in any of the games but they were able to to take care of business. It will get tougher down the road but they really impressed on Wednesday.
Roberts Playing With A Mean Streak
One of the players that really stood out to me, and has been for awhile now, was 2023 forward JaQualon Roberts JaQualon Roberts 6'8" | PF Bloomington North | 2023 State IN , who plays on the 17u squad. Although I have talked about his improvements from his freshman year up to now, yesterday was the first time I really noticed just how mean and aggressive he is on the floor, especially around the rim. Every dunk was just with so much force and aggression and at times you wondered if the rim was going to collapse off the board. Was playing like he was on a mission.
Backcourt Duo Of Perry and Dunham Is Fun To Watch
Switching to the 16u squad, the backcourt of Travis Perry Travis Perry 6'2" | PG Lyon County | 2024 State #115 Nation KY and Josiah Dunham Josiah Dunham 6'0" | PG Evansville Christian | 2024 State IN has easily been one of my favorite duo to watch. They complement each other so well because they have a similar skillset and can both do the exact same things. Although Perry often times is more of the scorer and Dunham is the floor general, they both can switch it up which makes Indiana Elite 2024 such a dangerous squad.
Imes And Shrewsberry Combo Future of B1G
Back to the 17u group, I have a strong feeling that Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN and Braeden Shrewsberry, who are both Penn State commits, will be one of the best backcourt duos in the Big Ten come their junior or senior year. It comes down to one word and that word is “chemistry.” Both have built an incredible amount of chemistry on Indiana Elite because both have been playing together for so long. They play their roles perfect as Imes is the distributor and Shrewsberry is the one finding the space to get an open look. These guys are names to watch during their college career.
All Teams Have Chance To Win It All
This kind of goes back to my first point with how dominant these three teams were. I mean just look at this list of players that make up these three teams: JaQualon Roberts JaQualon Roberts 6'8" | PF Bloomington North | 2023 State IN , Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN , Braeden Shrewsberry, Nick Richart Nick Richart 6'9" | PF Zionsville | 2023 State IN , Jaron Tibbs Jaron Tibbs 6'4" | SF Cathedral | 2023 State IN , Jake Davis Jake Davis 6'6" | SF Cathedral | 2023 State IN , Travis Perry Travis Perry 6'2" | PG Lyon County | 2024 State #115 Nation KY , Josiah Dunham Josiah Dunham 6'0" | PG Evansville Christian | 2024 State IN , Cooper Koch Cooper Koch 6'8" | PF Metamora | 2024 State #81 Nation IL , Raleigh Burgess Raleigh Burgess 6'10" | C Sycamore | 2024 State #130 Nation OH , Flory Bidunga Flory Bidunga 6'9" | C Kokomo | 2024 State #7 Nation IN , Aaron Fine Aaron Fine 6'3" | PG Noblesville | 2024 State IN , Justin Sims Justin Sims 6'6" | PF Chesterton | 2024 State IN , Braylon Mullins Braylon Mullins 6'6" | SG Greenfield-Central | 2025 State #123 Nation IN , Dezmon Briscoe Dezmon Briscoe 6'9" | PF Crispus Attucks | 2025 State #107 Nation IN , and so much more. Yes yesterday was a “light” day of competition, but it is hard to beat out talent at this point in the summer and Indiana 17u, 16u, and 15u have all of that and more.
