The Grind Region finals got started on Friday night across Dallas and I was posted up at Drive Nation where most of the 17U action would be taking place throughout the weekend. One of the early games Friday evening that caught my attention was the absolute clinic that 24MD Team Daum put together as they dominated their way to a victory. They doubled up their opponent with a 90-45 victory and they had a trio of 2023 prospects that stood out throughout the game. Here’s a breakdown on all three and a look at what’s ahead for 24MD Team Daum this weekend. They’ll play again on Saturday morning at 9:10AM against a team that got a 20-point victory on Friday as well.
Corbin Garver Corbin Garver 6'3" | CG Air Academy | 2023 State CO – 2023 Forward
While the other two standouts from Friday are guards, they also had a man in the middle controlling things and that was 2023 forward Corbin Garver Corbin Garver 6'3" | CG Air Academy | 2023 State CO . The 2023 forward was about as automatic as it gets when he would get the ball in the paint. Garver is definitely a smaller forward but he has advanced skills in the paint and then has the ability to step outside and continue to work on the offensive and defensive side of the floor. Another part of his game that stood out was the defense. He was contesting shot after shot in the paint and was making things very difficult for their opponents.
Jaedyn Brown – 2023 Guard
This game was over by halftime and 2023 guard Jaedyn Brown made it that way with 21 points at half. He would add a few more in the second half to lead all scorers with 25 points. Inside, outside, it didn’t matter, Brown’s shot was going in and that would happen quite a bit on Friday evening. For me, it was my first time seeing Brown so I checked out what else he’s done this offseason and he’s had quite the spring and summer. If he’s not on more radars by now, coaches are missing out because he’s showing off what he’s been doing all offseason.
Ty Brown – 2023 Guard
Our final prospect from 24MD is 2023 guard Ty Brown. Similar to the other two prospects, Brown was able to do a little bit of everything on Friday and really whatever he wanted to do with the ball was working. The defense he played was suffocating and the playmaking ability he showed was outstanding as well. Brown would finish the game with 17 points and just like with the other two players, he made it look easy. That’s the main theme in their win on Friday. Easy. It felt effortless at times as they absolutely dominated their way to a 45-point win.
