Continue ReadingThe 2025 class still has a very long way to go but the early returns look like this class is a powerhouse. At this point, 7 members of the class hold at least one D1 offer and there are at least twice that many with the potential to earn D1 offers in the class before they get to graduation down the line. Here’s a look at the top ten in our updated rankings.
Malachi Moreno Malachi Moreno 6'11" | C Great Crossing | 2025 State #21 Nation KY , Great Crossing – Malachi moves back into the top spot after slipping in the last update. Moreno is off the charts in terms of potential and has recently earned a couple of high major offers from Missouri and Purdue. Standing almost 7 foot tall, Malachi has really grown into his body in the last year or so and has started to get more athletic now that his growing has slowed down.
EJ Walker EJ Walker 6'8" | PF Lloyd Memorial | 2025 State #116 Nation KY , Lloyd Memorial – Walker slipped a spot in this update but his recruiting continues to trend up as he has racked up multiple offers this summer. EJ is very skilled and has shown the ability to score the ball at every level and has high level court vision with the ball in his hands. Walker has a strong body and is capable of bullying smaller defenders around the bucket or pulling traditional bigs away from the rim.
Jasper Johnson Jasper Johnson 6'5" | PG Woodford County | 2025 #15 Nation MO , Woodford County – Jasper is a big potential player who has been mentioned as possibly a future top 30-50 recruit in America. The lefty guard can play on or off the ball and is capable of pulling up from NBA range from three or getting to the rim and finishing through traffic. The 6’4 guard is a two sport star who is likely to have offers in football and basketball before signing day rolls around in the future.
Vincent Dawson III Vincent Dawson III 6'5" | SG Great Crossing | 2025 State #327 Nation KY , Great Crossing – One of the smoothest scorers in the class, Vince lives in the midrange where he is an above average bucket getter. He’s a good perimeter shooter and has shown the ability to get double-doubles on a nightly basis at the high school level. Dawson has as much potential as anyone in the class, especially if he grows any more.
Elijah Clinton Elijah Clinton 6'6" | CG Western | 2025 FL , Western – If you’re looking for a player to buy stock in right now, “Musa” is the one. He’s a big time athlete who plays with a great motor and excels at getting downhill and into the paint. His jumpshot is still improving but Clinton is comfortable shooting pull up jumpers and does so efficiently. Elijah is an X factor for a Western team that is loaded with young talent.
Julius Edmonds Julius Edmonds 6'6" | SF Trinity | 2025 State #253 Nation KY , Western – Another young Western Warrior, JuJu has a ton of potential but needs to get his motor running all the time to reach his potential. I’m interested to see Edmonds play this season and see if he’s become a more confident three point shooter than he was last season when teams would routinely back off of him when he caught the ball on the perimeter.
Jayden Miles, Western – The third Western player to crack the top ten could have the most potential of all of them. Jayden is 6’8 and still has plenty of time to grow. He plays with a mean streak and doesn’t back down from anyone but needs to focus his energy into becoming an elite rebounder and rim protector. His offense is still coming along also. If he reaches his ceiling, Miles is a power 5 level recruit in 2 years.
Austin Sperry Austin Sperry 6'3" | SG Breathitt County | 2025 State KY , Breathitt County – A top notch athlete who has potential to be one of the best prospects the mountains has seen in a while, Sperry has had an explosive summer with Team Thad’s 15u team and should be one of the best players in the region this season. Austin has the physical tools to be a lockdown defender eventually and should be a big time D1 recruit over the next couple of years.
Ben Mukadi Ben Mukadi 6'8" | C Evangel Christian | 2025 State KY , Evangel Christian – Tshaka has modest stats but his rankings is mostly based on long term potential as he’s still learning how to be an effective post player on both ends of the court. Ben is an above average rim protector and rim runner but his ceiling as a prospect will keep going up as his skill level raises.
Zander Carter Zander Carter 6'6" | SG Ashland Blazer | 2025 State #296 Nation KY , Ashland – Carter moves back into the top 10 after slipping out recently. Look for Zander to be a go-to scorer for Ashland this season after waiting his turn the last few seasons. A good shooter from range, the 6’4 guard has gotten more comfortable attacking the rim and is becoming more of a true three level scorer as his game develops.
