Continue ReadingThe final few weeks of the AAU run have been flying by and several NJ prospects have continued to step up their game and are either on the cusp of offers or began receiving offers recently. The talent pool in the Garden State Class of 2023 is one of the deepest the talent rich state has seen in years.
Stesher Mathelier Stesher Mathelier 6'7" | PF Notre Dame | 2024 NY | 6’8” | F | Notre Dame
The focus of Notre Dame’s post play this coming season had a HUGE summer that saw college interest start piling up. He’s got a rock solid frame and can finish around the rim. He’s also capable of hitting shots in the mid range and extends towards the perimeter. He’s very difficult to box out and is a very physical forward. He recently earned an offer from Army. He had 31&12 vs Robbinsville, 20&17 vs Trenton and 20&10 vs Manchester Twp, among a host of solid games last year. He will be a frontrunner for Mercer County Player Of The Year.
Evan Cabral Evan Cabral 6'2" | CG Don Bosco Prep | 2023 State NJ | 6’2” | G | Don Bosco Prep
A physical two way guard who was a supporting cast member for the Ironmen last year. He’s got a very strong build to attack the hoop and get through contact. He’s a facilitator who can also get out in transition. He’s going to be one of the leaders for Bosco this coming year and had a big summer on the AAU scene.
Christian Pierre Louis | 6’2” | G | Roselle Catholic
CPL is still the most highly-rated, under-rated player in New Jersey. He’s a crafty lefty who can attack the rim fearlessly, but his key attribute that should have him considered among the elite prospects of Garden State basketball is his defensive skill. He’s one of the, if not the, toughest on ball defenders in New Jersey. He’s earned several offers recently, including UMKC and UC Santa Barbara. The only question with CPL left is…What are coaches in the Northeast looking for, because he checks the boxes. America East, Northeast Conference, MEAC, SWAC and other D1 conferences should be taking a long, serious look at CPL.
Jackson Bleecker | 6’4” | G | Seton Hall Prep
The driving force behind Seton Hall Prep winning the Essex County Title last winter. He’s a dominant player at both ends of the court. Rock solid shooter with a lightning release. Smooth guard who can weave his way to the basket with his handles. High IQ player with a high GPA—Also an NHS member. Played with the NJ Panthers. Dropped 27 vs Columbia, 23 vs Irvington and 18 vs Immaculate Conception as a junior. D1 interest coming his way.
Joshua Ingram Joshua Ingram 6'4" | SG St. Joe's Metuchen | 2023 State NJ | 6’4” | G | Saint Joe’s Metuchen
A silky smooth slasher who has crafty moves getting at the basket. He can also get out in transition and can get above the rim. Solid offensive player who can also hit from beyond the arc. He’s a physical defender. A double digit scorer against everyone but St Benedict’s last year. He had 22 vs Monroe, 18 vs Hudson Catholic, 17 vs Linden. Playing for the NJ Panthers on the AAU scene, Ingram had a big summer. He walked away from the AAU circuit with offers from Caldwell and Georgian Court. He’ll have more offers to come as he goes into his senior year.
