Continue ReadingI continued my Summer grind by heading down I-675 to Wright State University and the Nutter Center for the one day shootout. Several local teams made the drive as did some out of state teams as well. To overview the event, I will be highlighting first my top performers in the 2023 class. Followed by the top underclassmen afterwards.
Kellon Smith Shaker Heights
Smith is a player I don’t get to see often being in NE Ohio. But the senior guard gave me a chance to see him live against a familiar team in Beavercreek. Smith caught my attention on the defensive end of the floor. Working hard on-ball and keeping in front of a skilled guard like Isaiah Williams (2025). Smith has a solid arsenal on the offensive end of the floor showing he can put the ball on the floor or knock down shots in the midrange.
Dayjuan Anderson Ponitz
Anderson had one of the best performances I watched and did it front of the Wright State coaching staff. Anderson has been and continues to impress with his shot taking and making abilities. One of the best athletes in the Nutter Center during my stay and did so much from slashing to making some tough shots on the perimeter. Some outlets will say Anderson is a fringe D1/D2 level prospect. Regardless, he owns a 3.7 GPA and should be targeted by schools as he has the talent.
Tyler Galluch Tyler Galluch 6'4" | PF Catholic Central | 2023 State OH Catholic Central
Galluch filled up the scoring column for the Irish against a very athletic Ponitz team. Similar to how he played during AAU, Galluch created a lot of opportunities getting a dribble or two ahead of steam and just straight attacking the rim. His framework is good even though his height is slightly smaller than other SFs. Galluch made some really tough shots and carried the Irish in scoring in a losing effort. With the amount of talent gone, Galluch will likely be the X-factor for Catholic Central if they win games or not.
Cameron Reed Cameron Reed 6'0" | PG Ferndale | 2023 State MI Ferndale (MI)
Reed is an out of state player, but man can the guy compete. The lefty guard did something I haven’t seen many people do in the last 4 years…beat Gabe Cupps Gabe Cupps 6'1" | PG Centerville | 2023 State #80 Nation OH on the defensive end. Reed used second level speed and quickness to blow by defenders, including Cupps, and finish around the rim. When he wasn’t slashing, Reed showed decent range and knocked down some perimeter shots to try and keep Ferndale in their game. Reed is certainly a scholarship guard from this one game I watched.
