Bennett Basich Bennett Basich 6'3" | SG Arrowhead | 2024 State WI – 2024 – SG – Arrowhead
Basich had a very good day on Sunday as Arrowhead reached the semifinals. In the team’s second win, Basich dropped 24 points despite checking out of the game with 14 minutes left. The 6-foot-4 guard was just unconscious shooting the basketball. There was a long spurt in the first half where everything Basich threw up was finding the bottom of the net. Basich excels as a pull-up shooter. He knows where his bread is buttered in terms of how he’s going to be successful. Not an above-the-rim or lightning-quick athlete, Basich can still create separation and does so by lowering his shoulder and getting defenders off balance. Once he’s got you thinking downhill, Basich can rise up over the top. A gritty, hard-nosed prospect too, Basich leaves it all out there on the floor. Nobody would say he’s injury prone, but he’s leaving a lot of games sore by the way he puts his body on the line and puts his face into the fan.
Chris Davis Jr. Chris Davis Jr. 5'10" Madison East | 2025 State WI – 2025 – W – Sun Prairie West
Davis has a lot to work with in the coming years. The 6-foot-2 wing has a strong, athletic frame. He’s a relentless attacker with a high motor. Davis has really impressive handles for his age as well, able to play low to the ground and blow past defenders. Like a lot of young players, gotta start seeing the whole floor, cut down on the turnovers, and improve shot selection, but Davis has a lot of natural talent to take over games. He’s not only a gifted scorer, but gifted as a passer as well, able to thread the needle and drop dimes creatively before the defense can react.
Hogan Demovsky Hogan Demovsky 6'2" | CG De Pere | 2023 State WI – 2023 – G – De Pere
Think Demovsky has started to play some really good ball over the last month-plus and turn a corner. He’s not only been able to impact the game in ways that go beyond scoring, but Demovsky has also given a deep and talented Red Bird lineup some added scoring punch on occasion. Demovsky has found a niche defensively as someone who can be an irritant and wear down the other team’s best player. There was a noticeable want-to and tenacity on that end of the floor in Madison. Demovsky sees ball and man and has good anticipation and reflexes to play the passing lanes. Think Demovsky has been more opportunistic offensively as well. Maybe not a guy that De Pere runs a lot of sets for, but when Demovsky senses an open lane or a breakdown in the defense, he’s attacking it.
Zach Kinziger Zach Kinziger 6'3" | SG De Pere | 2025 State #127 Nation WI – 2025 – SG – De Pere
He didn’t end as well as he started, but this youngster has grown on me in the spring. Just think Kinziger is going to develop into a very dangerous, multi-dimensional scorer. On top of that, he’s got value as a defender and a point guard as well. You know he’s going to provide a premier shot making presence from mid and 3-point range. Kinziger also moves exceptionally well without the basketball and can just tire his man out. That sets up a lot of stuff at the rim. Kinziger catches on the move at high speed, turns a corner, and is very slithery at the rim. Love the finishing package as well. Kinziger can lay it up with either hand, off-balance, and has a variety of finishing types. Don’t know where other people have him ranked right now, but see Kinziger is a top 7-8 guy in this deep 2025 class.
Mason Kleinsmith Mason Kleinsmith 5'9" | PG Madison LaFollette | 2023 State WI – 2023 – PG – Madison La Follette
New name that could emerge in the Big Eight next season, Kleinsmith is a very skilled guard that plays with pace. He’s got the ball on a string and is able to do a lot of damage on the dribble-drive. It’s summer league. There’s a lot more freedom and guys take shots they’re not going to attempt in the winter, but Kleinsmith did connect on a lot of difficult triples. The 5-foot-10 guard has a nice step-back game and left some defenders in the dust on Sunday. The Lancers have a pretty solid backcourt, but think Kleinsmith could be an x-factor type playmaker for them next season.
Quinton Lomack Quinton Lomack 6'1" | CG Madison La Follette | 2024 WI – 2024 – PG – Madison La Follette
When Lomack is aggressive, he’s tough to stop. There’s a lot of bulldog in the 6-foot-2 point guard who just wants to get to the rim and make defenders foul if they’re gonna stop him. Lomack is a driver, but he’s developed in the way he’s gone about it over the last two years. Early, he had some tunnel vision and almost always went right. Now, you we’re seeing him play more under control, play off two feet, and be able to change directions and maneuver around traffic. Up next, Lomack appears to be trying to expand his game and develop a reliable jumper. However, he’s done enough to move up in the next rankings update with his improved dribble-drive ability and floor vision.
Robert Peters Robert Peters 6'8" | PF West Allis Hale | 2023 State WI – 2023 – PF – West Allis Hale
Peters had moments as good as I’ve seen from him. The 6-foot-7 forward has really expanded his game more to the perimeter. Peters was able to size defenders up and just go to work. West Allis Hale even uses him a point forward role at times and allows him to be a decision maker. Peters is shooting it better from 3-point range and did some scary things off the dribble. He’s not an overly polished post prospect, but he’ll get a fair share of high percentage baskets around the rim. Also like how Peters is able to feel out double teams and read coverages before he attacks/gives up the basketball. Think Peters is a guy Division 1 programs will want to keep tabs on throughout July and beyond.
Danny Staskunas Danny Staskunas 6'1" | PG West Allis Hale | 2023 State WI – 2023 – G – West Allis Hale
He can be a little streaky at times, but overall, Staskunas shoots it pretty well for someone who constantly has the green light. The 6-foot-1 guard is always ready to shoot and made a lot of defenders pay when they did not close out with a hand high. A true combo guard, Staskunas does a really good job of running the show and doing so with pace. He’s not someone that likes to stay stagnant. The ball movement is just different when he’s on the floor. He’s a guy who can give it up early in the offense, run through a few screens, get it back, and score in a matter of seconds. Staskunas also has terrific vision when he gets into high percentage areas. When he probes with the basketball, Staskunas knows how to manipulate defenders with his eyes or direct his teammates to where he needs them to go.
Mac Wrecke Mac Wrecke 6'5" | SG Arrowhead | 2023 State #272 Nation WI – 2023 – SF – Arrowhead
When Wrecke shoots the ball at a high level, he becomes very fun to watch. Given his athletic ability and strength, defenders have to respect the drive. When he can catch and shoot from 3 and score in the mid-range off one or two dribbles, what do you give up as a defender? Wrecke had it going in Friday’s win over a loaded De Pere squad, scoring a game-high 23 points with a running clock. On Sunday, Wrecke also had 16 points in a loss to De Pere in the semifinals, but also had a couple more major spurts. Holding Division 1 offers from Wofford and Milwaukee, Wrecke played some of his best ball in Madison, and hopefully, it’s a sign of things to come in July.
Austin Villareal Austin Villareal 6'1" | SG Arrowhead | 2023 State WI – 2023 – G – Arrowhead
He might not look the part, but Villareal has a lot of swagger and killer instinct as a scorer. When he gets going too…watch out. Villareal began Sunday by scoring 11 of the first 13 points for Arrowhead in a blowout win. He then poured in 18 points in a victory over La Follette. Love the body control around the rim. Guys think they’re going to block his shot, but Villareal has the presence of mind and hang time to just adjust his torso or shooting angle enough to not only get a clean look, but finish through contact as well. He’s also a guard that keeps you guessing. Villareal is quite shifty and smooth on the ball. He’ll change directions or give defenders head fakes multiple times before he’s ready to make his move. Playing alongside two Division 1 prospects, Villareal doesn’t have to be on the ball to be effective. They can stick him in the corner and he’ll burry triples as well.
