We dropped by for a few games on Saturday evening and here’s a look at the top performers we saw.
Aidan Rice Aidan Rice 6'2" | PG Beaverton | 2024 State OR (2024 Beaverton)
The ascension of Rice continues since the state tournament. The rising junior was totally on fire in the first half in Beaverton’s blowout victory over Westview, hitting shots from deep, pull-ups, and getting to the hoop in transition. He wound up with 20 points in the period and got some rest in the second half.
Mason Shank (2023 Beaverton)
Beaverton will undoubtedly have their offense geared around the likes of Rice, his cousin Brady, and transfer Jalen Childs Jalen Childs 6'3" | PG Beaverton | 2023 State OR but don’t overlook Shank. The rising senior is a high-energy player who was very aggressive running up the court and getting into transition, where he was able to get a lot of easy baskets. On the defensive end, he showed some gritiness as well.
Jason Grady Jason Grady 6'5" | SF Westview | 2025 State OR (2025 Westview)
Simply put, Grady was one of the top shooters we’ve seen all summer so far. At 6-foot-5 (and likely still growing), the sophomore will likely spend some time in the post for Westview as one of their tallest players, but he can definitely shoot the ball from distance. He hit nine threes in two games we watched and we heard from head coach Mike Wolf he hit six threes in another game.
Bogdan Chobu Bogdan Chobu 5'10" | CG Westview | 2023 State OR (2023 Westview)
After being away from the state the past two years, Chobu is back in Oregon. The 5-foot-10 point guard is quick, athletic, and wiry strong and has a variety of moves to create his own shot. Chobu – who last played in-state at Liberty as a freshman starter in 2019-20 – is still trying to fit in with his teammates but has the potential to really make an impact for the Wildcats.
Ian Prictor Ian Prictor 6'8" | PF Mountain View | 2024 State OR (2024 Mountain View)
The younger brother of recently graduated big man and Pittsburg State commit Ian Prictor Ian Prictor 6'8" | PF Mountain View | 2024 State OR , the younger Prictor isn’t as tall but still stands about 6-foot-6, has good length, and runs the floor well. He finished a number of plays down low and did a good job cleaning up on the offensive boards. His ceiling is high and he has continued to develop as he takes on a bigger role with the Cougars.
Brayden Meier (2023 Mountain View)
Meier is the type of guy you want on your team – he plays hard and with fire. While at times he had to be reigned in a bit, his competitive nature helped drive him on both ends of the floor. He knocked down some perimeter jumpers and really battled down low for rebounds and loose balls against players bigger than his 5-foot-10 height.
