Today We Will Looking at the New Names In the Classes of 2023 and 2024 We Saw At the Event:
(Separated By Team)
Wabaunsee
Logan Clark, 6’1 G, 2023: A play making point guard who is a drive and dish specialist. The lefty will play a big role this season for the Chargers helping steady the offense, run their system, and get his guys great opportunities to score. He is strong on straight line drives, is a good off ball cutter, and is a solid finisher at the rim. Clark’s passing is his best attribute and should rack up some big assists numbers this year.
Ryan Schutter, 6’4 F, 2023: Finished off his day with an eye popping back cut for a catch for a two handed athletic flush. Schutter showed massive signs of improvement from last year on the day with his finishing touch, explosiveness, and physicality in the paint. With the departure of some solid 4’s and 5’s in the league, Schutter has a chance to really raise his stock this year and make an imprint on the Mid East League. Blocked some shots on the day and was a steady contributor on the glass.
Zach Frank, 5’9 PG, 2024: Was solid in the pick and roll game on the day, got paint touches and made plays from there including a couple really smooth passes to Schutter on rolls to the rim. A decent perimeter shooter and with improved consistency from there will be an effective all around guard for the Chargers.
Jeff West
Brian Kelly, 5’9 G, 2023: Looking to be the lone senior leader for a growing Jeff West team. Kelly is a capable three point shooter who thrives off the catch and with open looks from three. Plays really hard, crashes the glass, and will try really hard on the defensive end. Knocked down some shots on Saturday.
St Mary’s
Josh Dyer, 6’ G/F, 2024: The Bears will be looking for new role guys to fit around the Hurla’s and Dyer showed he has the tools to be just that. Big bodied versatile piece who can guard inside or handle guarding some guards on the perimeter, can be a zone buster on catch and shoot 3’s, is a willing and good screener, and is a strong finisher in the paint. Makes good reads on passes to perimeter guys moving on the court.
Atticus Martin, 6’1 F, 2024: Big and strong frame, covers a ton of ground, and is a good help side defender to go along with walling up in the paint. Boxes out well on both ends and while he may not go snag the board it opens up rebounding lanes for teammates. Had a couple of nice baby hooks after getting deep post position. Will play a solid role to give them some physicality inside.
Perry Lecompton
Ryeki Tuley, 6’ PG, 2024: One of the better on ball defenders we saw on the day. Tuley carrier himself with confidence on the floor, accepts defensive challenges, moves extremely quick with some strength behind it as well. Did a great job of creating offense on the day without having to score and showed some true point guard ability in the back court.
Kale Garski, 6’4 W, 2023: A sneaky viable role player last year for Perry will play a bigger role this season. He is a very versatile wing who when keeping his game real simple can be a solid wing/4 player. Ran the lanes wide and with pace in transition which got him some easy finishes, grabbed some tough offensive rebounds for put backs, and can be plugged in to guard a variety of guys.
