Unranked For Now: Part I
The Class of 2024 rankings are fresh and out of the oven. Take a look, if you have not already. Much evaluating, consulting, observing goes into our rankings, but there are always omissions. None of the players in this article are surefire ranked players. Yet.
If you want to state your case to be ranked, then DM @PrepHoopsTN anytime.
Charlie McHugh (Dobyns-Bennett)
State Champion. Needs better open floor speed. Rebounds with a purpose. Active feet. Already committed to defense, halfway through his varsity maturation.
Arnet Cotton (Glencliff)
Cotton showed some ability to run the floor. Good athleticism, though he did miss a two-handed dunk, possibly by taking off too late. Not an expert with the handle, which will limit his ability to create from a wing position. Athleticism and size are the two biggest indicators of potential. Cotton is not blessed with elite athleticism, but it is decent and enough to keep an eye on.
D’azjon Dowell (Glencliff)
Dowell was the most steady and threatening offensive player for the Glencliff Colts against KIPP. He showed an uncommon first-step burst and a keen awareness of where the defense was weakest. The team will need a lot from him to create. Stylistically, he reflects a little DeMar DeRozan in his eagerness to slash with a slender frame.
Braden Bryan Braden Bryan 6'6" | SG Briarcrest Christian | 2024 TN (Briarcrest Christian)
Braden Bryan Braden Bryan 6'6" | SG Briarcrest Christian | 2024 TN 6-5 Briarcrest Christian (TN) Hometown player appeared very comfortable at Bluff City Blues. Length made him appear taller his listed height. Played effectively close to the basket but was able to stretch floor with his perimeter shot. Scored 15 points in the Saturday night victory over North Texas Legacy. Had the look of a nice long term stretch four prospect. – PrepHoopsMi at Bluff City Blues
Colten McClain (Cherokee)
Quick, electric, smallish point guard. Colten earned a nice reputation in his breakout sophomore year with Cherokee, but nobody knows of his basketball outside of his county really. This next season will showcase him to a broader swath of fans and foes.
