Among the ones in attendance were a number of Oregon prospects and we were able to watch them perform in drills and a couple of games. Here’s a look at some of the standouts (Part 2 of 2):
Jared Sucher Jared Sucher 6'4" | SG Sherwood | 2023 State OR (2023 Sherwood)
While he knocked down some jumpers, quite honestly we’ve seen Sucher shoot the ball better. At the same time, he recognized this and went strong to the hole where he was able to use his athleticism and budding strength to score around the hoop, sometimes using his off hand to confuse defenders. He was also able to showcase his athleticism with a couple of impressive one-handed jams in transition.
Breyan Kelly Breyan Kelly 6'2" | CG Sherwood | 2023 State OR (2023 Sherwood)
Kelly was the top shooter we saw at the camp as he was drilling threes left and right, whether off the catch and shoot or using a dribble or two to free himself up. The rising senior wasn’t just a standstill shooter either as he looked to get the ball to open teammates for scores as well. Overall, he hit a dozen threes in the two games we watched and a couple were from NBA distance.
Matthew Verkamp Matthew Verkamp 6'4" | SF Sherwood | 2023 State OR (2023 Sherwood)
Verkamp proved himself an inside-outside threat as he used his athleticism to be a factor on the boards and was effective finishing on the break. The rising senior had good form on his shot as he knocked down shots out past the three-point line.
Kwaje Laila Kwaje Laila 5'11" | SG Franklin | 2024 State OR (2024 Franklin)
Laila has been described as a “PJ Tucker” type by other PrepHoops scouts and it’s easy to see why. The rising junior uses his bulk to create space down low but can also step out and knock down threes. He showed potential as a three-and-D type of player and played tough.
Jace Aguilar (2023 Jefferson-OR)
A star at the 2A level, you would have never guessed Aguilar was a small school player. The point guard plays with grittiness on both ends of the floor, used his physicality to create off the dribble and also hit some open jumpers.
Andre Huynh (2022 Century)
Huynh is the classic type of player that you don’t have to run a single play for yet he makes a difference on the basketball floor. He was all over the place whether it was on the boards, battling for 50/50 balls, or getting out in transition. The lefty had some sneaky head fakes underneath to score around opponents and even stopped out and hit an open three. He remains an unsigned senior.
Other in-state players who attended camp included:
