Continue ReadingTheir Senior seasons are just around the corner and the class of 2023 is playing their last go around of “summer ball” before July AAU next month. Here’s a look at some rising Seniors who deserve scholarship offers.
John Mccrear John Mccrear 6'8" | PF Woodfard | 2023 State #219 Nation KY , Woodford County – Weird to say a top 10 prospect in the class can be under-recruited but aside from an offer from Arizona State last May, McCrear’s recruiting has been relatively quiet. John is a long and very athletic forward prospect that has the physical tools to be a high major player. John has to continue to develop his perimeter skills but he’s possibly (probably?) the best athlete in Kentucky.
Rylee Samons Rylee Samons 6'7" | SF Pikeville | 2023 State KY , Pikeville – Samons suffered a knee injury then used SB 128 to reclass to 2023 after missing out on his 17u AAU season. He had a solid high school season but doesn’t appear to be playing AAU at all this year. Rylee had early offers from Morehead State and others but all has been quiet for a while with his recruiting. A scoring wing at 6’7, Rylee has a lot of tools that schools covet and he should be on the radar for all regional D1 schools.
Caleb Brooks Caleb Brooks 6'9" | C Cooper | 2023 State KY , Cooper – There aren’t many 6’9 kids that can move as well as Brooks. Not to mention that he can shoot the three ball at a high level for his size. Caleb has worked to become a better out of area rebounder over the last year and his lack of offers is a little surprising. Look for Caleb to possibly turn some heads this weekend at Collins as well as in the July AAU Live Periods.
Crew Gibson Crew Gibson 6'8" | PF DeSales | 2023 State KY , DeSales – Crew is another player who has a unique skill set for his size as he can attack off the dribble in addition to playing with his back to the basket and shooting threes at a decent percentage. One underrated aspect of Gibson is his ability to guard the post on defense and he’s shown he’s not afraid to mix it up as a rebounder. Considering his high academics, some school should get a steal in the 23 class.
Sam Parrish Sam Parrish 6'0" | PG George Rogers Clark | 2023 State KY , George Rogers Clark – Sam is a scoring guard who is among the best vertical leapers in the class and often plays above the rim on offense. Parrish was able to slot in as a complimentary piece for GRC last season on their way to a state title run but is able to showcase his potential as a lead guard during AAU. It remains to be seen what position he’ll play in college but Sam is capable of playing on or off the ball and should get looks this weekend and into July as a player who should be a scholarship level signee.
