Continue ReadingMidwest Live was a great event for college coaches to watch some of Ohio’s top talent under one roof during a live period event. This attracted many colleges from the blue blood high major programs and small colleges from around the midwest. In this article we’ll break down the top 2024 performers from Saturday and Sunday that I saw.
Cade Norris Cade Norris 6'3" | PG Hilliard Bradley | 2024 State OH , 6’2 PG Hilliard Bradley 2024: Norris took the spring off from the grassroots season to train and I noticed a clear difference in his body. Norris looks leaner and more defined, leading to him gaining a little quickness and burst. Norris is also a bigger bodied guard and tried to bully his way in the paint at times as well. I’ll be interested to follow Norris’ continued development as he is one of the more unique prospects in the 2024 class and just gets stuff done on both ends of the floor.
Jeb Bischoff Jeb Bischoff 6'0" | SG Hilliard Bradley | 2024 State OH , 6’0 SG Hilliard Bradley 2024: Bischoff is one of the top shooters in Ohio’s 2024 class and once again got going for Bradley in Sandusky. Bischoff has a quick release and works well in the half-court, running off screens and being shot ready off the catch. While Bischoff hasn’t grown much since his freshman year, he’s still working hard defensively and knows where to be on that end of the floor. I wonder if scholarship programs like Bischoff’s ability to play in the half-court and his shooting ability enough to offer him starting next spring.
Ja’Corey Lipkins Ja’Corey Lipkins 6'1" | CG GlenOak | 2024 State OH , 6’1 CG CVCA 2024: Lipkins is one of the youngest 2024 prospects in the state and it’s really starting to come along for him with CVCA. Lipkins has a burner off the catch and has the ability to make some tough shots. Lipkins is also a very quick athlete, as he can create looks for himself off the bounce with his handle and burst. I’d like to see Lipkins continue to try and improve his overall skills as a point guard, leading the team when Darryn Peterson Darryn Peterson 6'5" | CG Huntington Prep | 2025 State #4 Nation WV is on the bench and getting others more involved. Currently I view Lipkins as a combo guard who should be playing off the ball more at this stage of his development.
Jesse Burris Jesse Burris 6'4" | SF Delaware Hayes | 2024 State #297 Nation OH , 6’4 SF Delaware Hayes 2024: Burris is my highest rated prospect in the 2024 class without a Division I offer and based on how he played this weekend I don’t think he’ll be waiting much longer for his first one. I hate to use the stereotype on Burris, but he’s actually sneaky athlete. Burris threw down a couple dunks in the game I was at and had one on Saturday that had the gym buzzing. Burris also shoots a clean ball from the outside, making some tough jumpers off the catch and the bounce. I believe Burris is a mid-major level prospect and would be surprised if MAC schools aren’t involved by the end of July.
Nick Patton Nick Patton 6'2" | SG Loyola Academy | 2024 IL , 6’2 SG Westerville Central 2024: Patton is an elite shooter, a bit similar to Jeb Bischoff Jeb Bischoff 6'0" | SG Hilliard Bradley | 2024 State OH who was profiled earlier in the article. Patton is bigger and longer, which helps defensively. Patton doesn’t have as quick of a release and is a bit more limited as an athlete when creating looks from downtown, but can put it on the floor and finish around the basket with his height. Patton got extremely hot in a shootout against Kettering Alter in the final game of the weekend that I watched, earning him a spot on our top 2024 performers list.
