Teams have been busy playing in weekly leagues, hitting up college team camps, and playing in showcase events. However, while we have been providing wall-to-wall coverage of many scholastic events already this month, we also want to still give some shine to our Prep Hoops Circuit. In this series that will run over the next few weeks we will take a look back at our circuit, specifically in the Grit Region, to highlight the top collegiate prospects in the Prep Hoops Grit Region. First, make sure you have seen Part One of this series.
Nikola Abusara Nikola Abusara 6'5" | SF Benet | 2023 State IL (Benet Academy 2023/Full Package Black 2023): This 6’5″ guard is making the leap to the UA Circuit for the summer with Team FVV, but was one of the most consistent players on the Prep Hoops Circuit in the spring. His length and athleticism on the wing make him a real matchup problem. Abusara has very good ball skills, finishes well around the basket, and is a good passer too. Has the ability to be a secondary playmaker in the half court offense. It wouldn’t be shocking to see some offers roll in this summer.
Ahmere Carson Ahmere Carson 6'2" | PG Anderson | 2023 State IN (Anderson H.S. 2023/EG10 2023): There simply aren’t many prospects in Indiana with the pure scoring ability of this 6’2″ guard. Carson, a strong left-handed prospect, is an excellent creator off of the dribble. He does not ever get sped up, plays through contact very well, and has a sweet outside shooting stroke. Everyone from low-major Division I programs to Division II and NAIA schools have been expressing serious interest after his great spring on the Prep Hoops Circuit with EG10.
Xavier Sulaiman Xavier Sulaiman 6'3" | SG Oak Lawn | 2023 State IL (Oak Lawn H.S. 2023/Hoops 4 Health 2023): If you put together a highlight reel of the Prep Hoops Circuit from the spring, you’d be seeing a lot of this super athletic guard. Sulaiman has several of the best dunks of the spring showing off his explosiveness. He also has good ball skill with the ability to knock down open three-pointers, attack the basket off of the dribble, and can defend multiple positions on the perimeter. Good student too which will help his recruitment.
Brandon Trilli Brandon Trilli 6'5" | SF Munster | 2023 State IN (Munster H.S. 2023/Team GRIII Elite 2023): Trilli burst onto the scene in Indiana after moving in from Arizona for his junior season. A great year at Munster earned him a spot on the Junior All-Star team and that success continued on the Prep Hoops Circuit with Team GRIII Elite. Trilli’s offensive versatility is what college coaches love. The 6’5″ forward is excellent around the basket, handles the ball well on the perimeter to attack closeouts, and is continuing to improve as a three-point shooting threat. Holds offers from Bethel and Trinity Christian.
Hutch Ward Hutch Ward 6'8" | PF Kalamazoo Central | 2023 State MI (Kalamazoo Central H.S. 2023/Michigan Cagers 2023): We’ve written about this 6’8″ prospect quite a bit throughout the spring and rightfully so. He was a fixture on First Team All-Tournament teams throughout the Prep Hoops Circuit with strong play for the Michigan Cagers. His mixture of size and perimeter shooting ability make him a very intriguing prospect for college coaches. Ward has raked in a handful of NAIA offers with plenty of more interest.
