Teams have been busy playing in weekly leagues, hitting up college team camps, and playing in showcase events. However, while we have been providing wall-to-wall coverage of many scholastic events already this month, we also want to still give some shine to our Prep Hoops Circuit. In this series that will run over the next few weeks we will take a look back at our circuit, specifically in the Grit Region, to highlight the top collegiate prospects in the Prep Hoops Grit Region.
Bryce Coleman Bryce Coleman 6'6" | SF Proviso East | 2023 State IL (Notre Dame College Prep 2023/IBA Illinois Stars 2023 Johnson): Coleman has been a big name on the college basketball recruiting scene for a couple of years now. As a younger prospect, the 6’5″ guard from Illinois was offered by Nebraska in July of 2020 and by Bowling Green about a year later. After strong live period performances in April this year with his Illinois Hoopstars team on the Prep Hoops Circuit, Coleman was offered by Radford. He is a strong, physical wing that can get downhill with the best of them off of the dribble.
Cooper Farrall Cooper Farrall 6'5" | SF Culver Academy | 2023 State IN (Culver Academy 2023/Team GRIII Elite 2023): This 6’5″ wing has a great combination of physical size and strength along with guard-like skill on the perimeter. He has the body to play up to the small ball “4” spot in college and is probably best equipped to guard that position. Farrall, who was named an Indiana Junior All-Star, is an excellent three-pointer shooter who has the ball skill to attack closeouts as well. A ton of college interest across the low-major Division I, Division II, and NAIA levels.
Jake Fiegen Jake Fiegen 6'3" | SG New Trier | 2023 State IL (New Trier H.S. 2023/Full Package Black 2023): There might not have been a Grit Region All-Tournament team this spring that didn’t feature this Full Package Black sharpshooter. Fiegen is a 6’3″ guard that can flat out shoot the basketball. He was over 50% from deep in several events on a high volume of attempts. Ranked as a Top 15 prospect in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops Illinois, it stands to reason that Fiegen is a highly sought after prospect at a variety of levels.
Mason Jones Mason Jones 6'7" | PF Valparaiso | 2023 State IN (Valparaiso H.S. 2023/Team GRIII Elite 2023): Jones is coming off of a strong performance for the Indiana Junior All-Stars against their Senior counterparts on Wednesday night. The versatile forward scored 13 points on 5-7 shooting while also pulling down 6 rebounds. At 6’7″ Jones has the length to finish up above the rim and reach past defenders to score. He has great ball skill, can change direction off the bounce when penetrating, and will make open catch-and-shoot three-pointers. Holds a Purdue Fort Wayne offer and should have more low to mid-major offers coming his way. Had a really strong finish to the spring on the Prep Hoops Circuit.
Matthew Moore Matthew Moore 6'7" | PF Hillcrest | 2023 State IL (Hillcrest H.S. 2023/Chicago Lockdown 2023): When you find a 6’8″-6’9″ forward with the motor and mobility of this prospect it doesn’t take a seasoned scout to see the upside. Moore is one of the most impactful defenders in the Prep Hoops Grit Region with excellent rebounding ability and flashes of offensive skill around the rim. Overall a versatile two-way talent that used a strong April live period to earn offers from Radford and New Orleans.
