This does give opportunity for players who have not seen the floor too much to really make an impression and get on the map and stock rise. Here is a small list of forwards that have had some success this spring.
6’7 F Souleymane Barro Souleymane Barro 6'7" | SF Layton Christian | 2023 State UT || Layton Christian Academy || 2023 ||
As we search for quality forwards that have versatile game Souleymane is starting to really pop. When going against other talented players he seems to find a way to score. He has been better out in the perimeter making quick moves as he sets up a spin to finish or uses some footwork that he seems to have been working on. He didn’t take a lot of jumpers in high school but he has been taking more this Spring which is great because it shows that he can step out and shoot the ball. defensively he has a steady motor and he has been able to guard multiple positions. He seems like a prototypical player that would land on a NJCAA team and just blow up after two years.
6’5 SF Logan Deal Logan Deal 6'6" | SF Sky View | 2023 State UT || Sky View High School || 2023 ||
Logan is an ideal player for a small school because he is strong and can play with his back to the basket. This Spring he has been using those skills and showcasing his high IQ. Logan has a great feel for the game that is apparent because he makes the right basketball play out on the floor. He is not a ball dominating player but he does move well without the ball which allows him to sneak behind the defense or simply find pockets. He has a smooth spin in the paint and he is ferocious on the boards.
6’7 F Isaac Garrett Isaac Garrett 6'8" | SF Pleasant Grove | 2023 State UT || Pleasant Grove High School || 2023 ||
Sleeper alert with this kid as he is having a solid Spring. Isaac has a polished game and we expect him to have a stellar summer. With the ability to step out and hit shots as well as bring the ball up the floor Isaac has the versatility to really play the 4 at the next level. He is patient and he looks to distribute the ball. On the blocks he has a nice back to the basket game. Really nice skill set when he faces up as well. He uses his face-up game in the mid-post which he then can use his foot-speed.
6’6 F Justus Jackson-Fobbs Justus Jackson-Fobbs 6'6" | SF Cyprus | 2023 State UT || Cyprus High School || 2023 ||
Hybrid player that can really showcase his talents out in the perimeter but also work down in the paint to get work done when he has an advantage down on the blocks. Justus was starting to really play has game before he suffered a shoulder injury but look for him to come back this summer and make a solid case for his stock to rise.
6’8 F Brock Felder Brock Felder 6'8" | SF Parowan | 2023 State UT || Parowan High School || 2023 ||
Brock has grown a bit and his strength remains. He has a nice motor to go along with his physical style of play. He continues to develop that 15-foot jumper from the top of the key and he has a nice touch when he is shooting from the short-corner. While playing with his new club team ignite he has been playing a bigger role on both sides of the court.
