Continue ReadingSummer basketball for high school teams is underway with quality games talking place all over the state of Michigan. The Compound Athletics is putting on a series of summer games in The Summer Tune Up Vol: 2. There will be some interesting matchups throughout the event. In Week 1 the games and the results were as follows:
Fraser v. Rochester
Rochester defeated Fraser in the tightest of the 3 contests. They won by a final score of 50-48.
Cass Tech v. Lakeshore
Cass Tech won in an 86-14 game. They looked very good with high level talent and the discipline to go with it.
Dakota v. Stevenson
Dakota pulled away with a 46-33 victory. They displayed toughness and impressive team defense.
Players Of The Game
For each contest, The Compound Athletics named a Player Of The Game.
Elijah Kalaj (2023, SF, Rochester)
Kalaj made his name known at The Summer Tune Up. He works hard off the ball and has a nice looking stroke on his jumper. Kalaj had the look of a confident shooter. He’s a prospect to make note of heading into next season.
Darius Acuff Darius Acuff 6'2" | PG IMG | 2025 State #9 Nation FL (2025, PG, Cass Tech)
It was certainly no surprise to see Acuff’s name pop up as a Player Of The Game. His handles and game awareness are already on another level. If felt like he could go at the defense and get a bucket whenever he wanted one. Acuff also did a nice job setting the table for h
Keylon Jackson (2025, G, Dakota)
This could be huge for Dakota. Jackson played freshman basketball last season, so a big jump for him could be very nice for Dakota. Jackson was excellent at The Summer Tune Up and Dakota will be looking for more solid play from him as the month moves on.
